it was a late Thanksgiving this year, and all of a sudden, December is upon us. i hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend. and i’m curious: did you venture out on Black Friday? it appears as if a lot of the country stayed home this year and shopped online. pretty soon, Black Friday and Cyber Monday will merge into Cyber (long) Weekend. (or something like that.) i thought i’d welcome Monday today, and go grey. (no! not my hair.) i’m featuring a Ralph Laurenwool pant. (they’re having a 40% off sale today, so make sure to check out their inventory.)
if you’re feeling grey today; or you’re not quite in the holiday spirit, then today’s post is for you. let’s embrace the grey as they say. and before this post becomes too much like a Dr. Seuss rhyme, let’s get to it.
ralph lauren wool pant
a perfect outfit for work or a day out and about, i’ve matched a turtleneck sweater from Nordstrom and (similar) cardigan from J.Crew. this cardigan is at least ten years old but still going strong. if you’re in a monochromatic mood, then neutrals are your best bet. and one of the best ways to stay warm this winter (and chic for that matter) is a pair of wool pants. as i mentioned, this pair is from Ralph Lauren. y’all know how i love him. he’s all about style rather than fashion, which is near and dear to my heart. style has substance and lasts forever. am i right?!
one of your favorites this quarter is these booties from Walmart. we’ve featured them on the blog before, and they were such a hit, i brought them back. because inventory is low, i’ve pulled similar booties (but also here and here.) they’re a great way to highlight today’s outfit, along with a black (similar) satchel.
over the past few days, i’ve aggregated several Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales. i’ll just draw your attention again to Ralph Lauren’s 40% sale. did i miss something? did you find a deal this year you just have to share? let me know in the comments below. i’ll sure be grateful, and i know other readers will be too.
at the end of every month, we publish our “best of.” yesterday, we put together the top 5 November posts on the blog and our November fashion flash compilation. make sure to check out the video below where you’ll find links to all of your favorite outfits of the month.

Gray is definitely one of your colors and the lipstick adds a pop of color. By the way gray is one of my colors as well and I have dark gray eyes to boot. We both must be Winters. Remember the book Color Me Beautiful? When I wear Autumn colors people ask me if I don’t feel well. Merry Christmas!
Guess I’m on trend today. I am wearing charcoal cotton pants, blush tee, light gray cotton knit cardigan and black driving mocs. Perfect for a 60* day in Central, Florida. Loved all the November posts.
Love this post! Today was a grey day for me as well. I’m wearing a grey sweater and charcoal pin striped slacks. Since I won’t be venturing out today I’m wearing my Birdseye Flax Rothy’s instead of boots. Also a navy and grey silk scarf from Talbots.
Love grey! I have a lot of grey items in my closet, with scarves that go nicely with cashmere sweaters, too. Something very cozy about them–soft greys, and I like those pants–tell Style Jr thanks for taking the close up so we could see the spot of color in them, too! I’ve been trying so hard to be good this year and not spend, but there really are some great deals out there right now. I could barely walk and get out last Christmas, since I’d just had my knees replaced, so this year all my last year’s clothes are like brand new! Meanwhile, I’m enjoying your looks. Cheers!
Love your site and your daily outfit inspiration. And yes, there is a BIG difference with having style vs. fashion. Well said! Re: CyberMonday sales, I found some great deals on Nordstrom’s site (scored a pair of Madewell loafers for 50% off) and shipping is FREE.
Hi Beth, loving the outfits. Fortunately for us we are in summer clothes being on a cruise around the Carribbean. We are in Tortola today so lovely and warm, it was lovely to see if recovering from the Hurricane they had two years ago.
I’m finding myself purchasing moreRalph Loren now, and loving it xoxo
So cute! I’m still in shorts around the house and wool is def too warm here. I do travel north for the holidays to see my daughter and her family and they have had snow already.
HI Beth!
I work at a Talbots (non-Mall) store that has all 3 departments: Missy, Petite and Woman. One of the largest in the US. On Black Friday (Blackwatch plaid Friday) we had the 50%/40% deal on tap and were giving away a beautiful plaid tote with a $150 purchase. The lines snaked around the store!! I thought everyone came out to shop. The 50%/40% sale opens up again from December 5-8 for readers who didn’t make it last week. Alas, the totes were gone before noon By the way, every time you show our styles I print off your post and bring it to the store!!
