Fashion Week is not just about showcasing the latest clothing designs; it's also a hub for unveiling the hottest makeup trends that will dominate the beauty scene for the upcoming season. And you don’t have to be included in the front row OR have an endless budget to implement these makeup trends into your daily life!
I’ve got the standout makeup looks that graced the runways and captured the hearts of beauty enthusiasts like myself!. Of course there were some that were way out in outer space, ahem, Shuting Qiu’s colorful spider eyes, but we aren’t going there today.
We are staying here on earth with the makeup looks we can actually pull off! Some trends were worn bold, but then some of the most beautiful spring makeup trends were actually quite subtle. Let’s dive into the Fashion Week beauty trends we normal gals can strut around in real life…
Jennifer shares 5 Spring 2024 Runway Makeup Trends You Can Wear in Real Life

This was the most prevalent makeup trend seen all over the runways. And I believe it’s the one trend that is actually ALWAYS on trend! From the gorgeous gals on the Zimmerman and Chanel runway, the models had the most beautifully blurred complexions. The key to this is that the skin doesn’t look too overdone. Notice I didn’t say dewy either - they were more blurred with a soft matte look.
How to wear it in real life: I’ve got a skin combination you’re going to want to try for yourself. First, you need the old-school staple that’s everyone's favorite - Smashbox The Original Photo Finish Smooth + Blur primer, $42. Layer it over your skincare but underneath your foundation or powder. It’s known for feeling like an actual veil of silk and gives that blurred pore and fine lines look with the help of ingredients like vitamins A + E.
Pair this primer with the likes of the Gucci 24 Hr full Coverage Luminous Matte Finish Foundation, $69. This is a foundation that gives that quiet-luxury- rich-gal- skin look and makes for a gorgeous combo (I”m wearing shade 270N for reference). I got the lightweight matte look with a few swipes in the center of the face with my Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Brightening powder, fair/medium, $48.
A winged eye always makes a statement. It’s true that a classic feline flick of liner doesn’t really ever go out of style and yes you can wear it no matter your age. And when you wear it like the ladies did at the Moschino show - it oozes a sense of that “cool girl feel” with a streak of boldness and a retro vibe.
How to wear it in real life: The key to this look is keeping all of the winged drama on the upper lid, omitting obvious mascara or shadow on the lower lash line, and keeping that entire area bare. You can use black, brown, or heck, even a colored liquid liner to draw on your wing.
Urban Decay makes a fun 24/7 Inks Ergonomic liquid liner, $28, in some fun springy colors! But I believe just a good brown liquid is very flattering for all ages and not too harsh like black can be if you want to be safe.
For my look, I used the handy cream shadows within the Patrick Ta Major Dimension eyeshadow palette, $70, with a thin liner brush. I always start on the outside of the eye bed with how dramatically far I want the wing to go, then draw the line back in towards the lash line, then stroke the brush along the rest of the lash line, going very thin and tapering off near the tear duct.
Using these creams makes it super easy to draw on the wing. But, you have to use a lid primer first, then add a matching eyeshadow on top to lock the cream in or it’ll move around the eyelid.
Colorful cheeks continued to reign supreme on the runways, some labeling it “poppy girl summer.” Whether it was soft bright tomato red cheeks or bold pops of pink cheeks, obvious cheek color was a key element in creating feminine and impactful beauty looks.
How to wear it in real life: Embrace this trend by keeping the color high on the cheekbones heading towards the temples. You could use a realistic stained cheek with the Pixi Beauty On -the- Glow blush sticks, $18 that my teenage daughter loves. These sticks are very easy to use and carry with you, and the colors are ALL super easy to pull off and melt into the skin.
Or you could choose a formula that gives you a choice of cream and/or powder blush in one, with my all time favorite Patrick Ta Double Take Crême + Powder blush, $36, I’m wearing “She’s A Doll.” It’s a super bright Barbie pink that makes my face look so alive!
Glossy lips made a comeback on the runways, giving a nod to the '90s era of supermodels and minimalist beauty. From high-shine glosses to dewy lip oils, glossy lips were everywhere, adding a touch of allure and sensuality to the makeup looks.
How to wear it in real life: This one is easy. If you haven’t jumped onto the lip oil train yet, what are you waiting on?? They are the perfect way to embrace the glossy lip trend by also getting loads of hydration added to your lips. Clarins award-winning Lip Comfort Oils, $30, just came out with 3 limited edition shades: yellow, orange, and pink. I’m wearing a combo of pink and orange in this post. Gosh, they feel delightful on the lips.
If you want to try the lip oil trend on a budget, go for the NYX Fat Oil Lip Drips, $9 , to still get that high shine and nourishing feeling.
Specks of shimmer on the skin and eyes helped the models to shine bright on the runways like in Christian Siriano’s show. From metallics to chrome, to glitter, anything shiny goes. And it is festival season, and what says festivals and outdoor concerts more than adding some shimmer to your look??
How to wear it in real life: I picked up my Pixi Beauty Fairy Lights wand, in “crystalline” $15, for this look. It’s more of a crystal white with intense sparkle which I easily dotted around the inner corners of my eye and just in the center of my lid. This gives my neutral eye look just a pop with the bright white and silver sparkles. One of my all-time fave ways to add sparkle to the lids is the Hourglass Scattered Light Glitter Eyeshadows, $30, they are phenomenal with their light-reflecting micro-glitter shades!
What makes the makeup trends from the Spring 2024 Fashion Week stand out is that they were diverse, creative, and inspiring. So, channel your inner runway model and experiment with these standout makeup trends to elevate your beauty game this spring!
Outfit details: I’m wearing one of the hot color combos in clothing for spring - and that was BLACK + WHITE! My soft knit Versona ruffle-sleeved sweater, $39, will look good with denim, dressed up with black pants or even a skirt. I have found it to be super versatile with its white backdrop and black lines. Here’s another ruffle-sleeved striped option as well. And how flattering is the black + white polka dot retro feel Anthro midi dress, $168??
My silver stacked Amazon bracelets, $16, I also own in gold! I seriously wear them daily. My ribbon earrings, $11, are also on Amazon.

Hi Jennifer, I made a comment last week on how to wear bronzer. I am really interested in knowing how to apply this technique. Thanks
Do you not read and answer your comments on the blog? I have asked a question three times and have not received a response?
Hi Sherry!
Jennifer typically answers all of her questions, but the blog hasn’t been tech friendly lately.
Beth
Thanks for your patience in my response. I usually suggest to do your foundation, concealer, set concealer with a loose powder, THEN bronze your face, then finish with blush. I like to bronze the perimeter of the face by sculpting along the forehead, temples, under cheekbones and jawline. You can do this with cream or powder bronzers – whatever your preference is. The key to realistic bronzing is to use a matte bronzer w no shimmer. If you’d like to try “underpainting” which is a more subtle way to bronze you can read this post I wrote on it here in SAACA >> https://www.styleatacertainage.com/beauty/the-hottest-viral-makeup-techinque-underpainting/ And I suggest bronzing is good for photos in this post here >> https://www.styleatacertainage.com/beauty/makeup-tips-for-looking-your-best-in-photos-makeup-tips-and-tricks-for-women-over-40/ // I hope this helps.
Thank you for et me know how to apply.
