Happy Tuesday, ladies! With Summer in full swing and the 4th right around the corner, I'm looking forward to fireworks. And what better way to really get in the mood than with some colorful striped dresses. (Hello, seersucker!)
It's no secret that I'm loving dresses this summer. So many to choose from. Different styles; silhouettes; colors; and patterns. From shift dresses to side-sleeved, I'm loving them all really. Today, I'm featuring a long-sleeved, seersucker shirtdress from Lands’ End---a retailer that I love but don't feature as often on the blog.
So get in the holiday spirit with me today, and let me know your 4th plans in the comments below!
Today's featured item is a shirtdress from Land's End

At the end of the post, I've pulled together 5 striped dresses I've got my eye on, including some budget-friendly options
Today's featured item is a 3-color shirtdress from Lands’ End that comes in regular, petite, and plus. Definitely on the patriotic-side of things, this dress would definitely be a great option for the holiday weekend. And I'm partnering with Lands' End on Instagram this month and they're offering my readers 50% off your purchase with code HAPPY through 7.31.
I've paired the dress with a pair of white Alibi Sandals available at Tuckernuck. I've featured these sandals extensively this Spring & Summer. They're super comfy; and I keep going back to them.

Sandals are an obvious choice to pair with a dress. Whether you prefer heels or not; strappy or slide; they just work with dresses. Easy peasy.
But if you've been paying attention to the alternate boards I've put up this season, I'm really loving the dress/sneaker pairing for a casual and practical look. I'm absolutely loving Talbots' sneaker options this season, especially their collaboration with Keds. But also check out Nordstrom's selection of Kate Spade sneakers.

Today, I'm giving you a continued tour of Charleston, SC. It’s always fun to play tourist, especially in a city full of history like Charleston.
An easy way to learn the local folklore is with a guided tour. A horse-drawn carriage beats the heat if you’re not up to a walking or ghost tour that’s in abundance in Charleston. And don’t worry about the horses.
These magnificent creatures are well cared for. As a matter of fact, the Belgian and Percheron draft horses live on a 65-acre farm, eat 40,000 calories per day, and are provided a daily dose of Guinness beer!
So let's get started!
Today, I'm giving you a continued tour of my trip to Charleston with a focus on Boone Hall & Plantation
I'm also showing you one of my dinner outfits featuring a dress from J.Crew

I've put together two alternates, both shoppable via a text widget
June is hot and hotter in Charleston. Every afternoon we would come back to the condo after a day of touring or shopping to take a shower and short nap before we headed out to dinner.
That night we went to Hyman’s I wore a simple white denim dress from J.Crew. I ordered an 8 Tall to give me a bit more length but regular, petite, and tall are available. This dress also comes in linen.
Camel and white is a classic color combo that’s perfect any time of year but especially on a hot summer day. Out came a tan handbag and sandals (old, similar here and here) and a few accessories that reinforced the color scheme.
Boone Hall and Plantation was founded in 1681 when Englishman Major John Boone came to Charleston. In 1743 his son planted Oak trees arranging them in two evenly spaced rows. Today, the majestic trees meet overhead and form a natural corridor that’s spectacular.

Happy Monday, ladies! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Although I'm still in Charlestone until Wednesday, temps are blazing down here in the South. We're looking at the high 90s in Athens for the next week. Yikes. But this heatwave got me thinking about essential transitional clothing.
We usually talk about transitional clothing across season changes. But whether we're going from inside to out or heading out for dinner after a day in the office, Summer days themselves can be challenging to dress for. So, today, I'm featuring some of my favorite transition clothing: a blazer and a dress.
A transition from a day at the office to dinner with friends or your main squeeze doesn’t have to be complicated if you incorporate a blazer or a dress. Today, I'm showing you the perfect Summer transitional outfit.

I pulled together 5 of my favorite blazers at the end of the post, so make sure to check them out!
My long-time followers know my absolute commitment to blazers. At my core, I'm a classic prepster, and a blazer is always part of my style uniform. They work all year round and can be paired with just about anything: dresses, pants, jeans, skirts, and yes, even shorts.
Nobody does blazers like Ann Taylor. But retailers like Veronica Beard are a go-to for me. If you're looking for more budget-friendly options, make sure to check LOFT and J.Crew Factory.

How adorable is this gingham sheath dress from Ann Taylor? Pair it with a blazer for a put-together office look and then simply drop the jacket and swap your accessories for a more casual evening look. (Plus, does anything say "Summer" more than gingham?)
Loving this dress because of its formal-to-casual flexibility. If you want an even more casual outfit idea, make sure to check out the alternate stylings today. How cute would the dress be styled with a cardigan and sneakers?

Yesterday, I presented a Summer outfit retrospective---my favorite summer outfits from 2017-2021. Click the title or image below to read the article.
Hello, it’s great to see you today! Yesterday, Beth shared a variety of chic and classic wedding guest dresses. Today, I am sharing a wedding guest dress perfect for a casual or cocktail-attire summer wedding. After planning and organizing my own wedding three years ago, being a guest at a wedding feels like a vacation! For the few other weddings I have been to, I quite enjoy the ease of being a guest and just enjoying the celebration of the day.
Today Kelly shows us a variety of petite summer wedding guest dresses
One of the dresses is modeled and the others have been put together on boards

For a casual or cocktail-attire summer wedding, a shorter hemline dress that is fun and feels celebratory is in order. And the Poppy Dress by Love The Label fits the bill. This dress is sold as a mini dress, but for a petite like me, it falls just above the knee. I found this dress locally, here in Athens, but you can find it online at Neiman Marcus. I am wearing size xs.
To me, being an infrequent wedding guest means not going crazy buying a dress that I will never have the opportunity to wear again. I don’t know about you, but we don’t have much opportunity to attend black tie galas, or super fancy events. So, I like to look for a dress that will fit the occasion and that I will be able to wear again.
This is where the dress’s details matter. While the shape of this dress is a loose shift, or tent shape, the sharp pleats of the double cap sleeve and neckline give it a more polished look. Similarly, the gathering of the bottom tier of the skirt creates a slight ruffle. If the structure of the dress is simple, or casual, it’s details like this that can elevate it to wedding guest attire.
Another leveling-up comes with the accessories. To emphasize the bright Kelly green color of the dress and to create a stark contrast, I went with black accessories. The Poppy Dress has a 1960’s vibe to it so I decided to go with a modern take on the block heel sandal. These J.Crew suede Penny Sandals are a few years old, but here are similar styles.
(HOBO) Waver Wristlet | (HOBO) Lana Convertible Bag | (Loeffler Randall) Rayne Pleated Clutch
And then my go-to for dressy handbags, my TSATSAS Black Tape clutch. I have gathered a couple similar bags by HOBO, plus one that’s not so similar but that would be a ton of fun with this dress, the Rayne Pleated Clutch by Loeffler Randall.
(DSW) Aerosoles Emmex Sandal | (Cole Haan) Josie Sandal | (Ann Taylor) Two-Strap Block Heel Sandal | (DSW) CL by Laundry Jody Sandal
While I have dressed up this dress with black accessories, I can see wearing this dress for a variety of occasions; pairing it with wedge espadrilles; or flat slide sandals for something more casual. An easy, breezy dress, fit for a variety of occasions, now that’s my kind of summer dress! xo Kelly

What to wear to a wedding? The blog fields a lot of questions about wedding attire: Mother of the Bride, Mother of the Groom, and plain old wedding guest. When shopping for wedding guest attire I typically refer women to Halsbrook and Anthropologie. In particular, Anthropologie has an entire brand called BHLDN that’s dedicated to wedding dresses for the Bride, Bridesmaids, Mother of the Bride, and shoes and accessories.
Today, we're deep-diving into wedding dresses. I'm modeling one of my favorites of the season, but I've also pulled together 15 different dresses from some of my favorite retailers. Whether you're going to a country wedding or city affair, there's something for you.

Since June is for all things brides and weddings today’s post is devoted to wedding attire. And do I have a dress for you! The Diana dress from Norma Kamali has been around since the ‘70s. Say what? Yes, Norma Kamali designed this very dress in the early days of her career then modified it in the ’80s.
This dress has staying power due to the draped fabric and flattering fit. Trust me, anyone and everyone will look good in this dress! It’s a timeless classic with a mid-range price point. What’s better than that? The Diana dress comes in an array of colors and is available at multiple retailers Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, Saks Fifth Avenue, Evereve, Anthropologie
For accessories, I chose an acrylic shoe (a dupe from Manolo Blahnik) that keeps the attention on the dress. A glitzy clutch and a scarf (similar here and here)
I can wear as a wrap, over one shoulder, or draped around my neck. Statement earrings and a gold bracelet add a touch of glam to this sophisticated outfit.

Happy Monday, ladies! I hope you had a wonderful weekend, especially Mother's Day. I was lucky enough to spend the weekend with my three sons and their partners. We all went to a Braves game on Saturday, and they won! Such a joy to spend time with family.
Hard to believe we're in May---even harder to believe we're almost halfway through. Where is 2022 going? So many changes happening over here at SaaCA, hard for even me to keep up! Even so, onward and forward: we're heading into the week strong with an affordable Treasure & Bond dress from Nordstrom. If you're not familiar with this brand, I highly recommend them---easy on the budget and stylish? A perfect combo.

Today's featured item is a ruched, side-sleeve dress. It comes in 17(!) different colors and looks good on anyone and everyone. (But make sure to size up.)
What I love most about this dress is that you can dress it up or you can dress it down. I'm such a big believer in fashion flexibility and jump on any dress in particular that gives that to me.
I paired this dress with a blazer (similar here and here). I wanted a more elevated look, but scroll down to the alternative stylings if you want a more casual one.
Ann Taylor always has a wonderful selection of blazers of all types. And this season is no different. I went with a monochromatic look--blue-on-blue---which softens the entire aesthetic.
I always love an opportunity to bring out a Tory Burch bag (similar here). The metallic details complement my jewelry today and really bring the outfit to a higher level.
To celebrate Mother's Day, Kelly and I put together a dressing diary. Click the title or image below to read the article.
Happy Sunday, ladies! We've got something new for you today. Last week, Kelly and I spent the day shopping at Banana Republic. We decided to put together a sort of dressing room diary for you all, but with a little catch: we wore the same outfits. We were matching mother and daughter-in-law.
So today, we're going to share those photos with you, because well, it's Mother's Day. And as something a little extra, I put together two boards today: one from Talbots and one from Ann Taylor. The only constraint I put on myself was to limit the boards to the new arrivals. (And truthly, that wasn't too hard, given how great the Spring collection has been from both retailers.)
So, without further ado, let's see the photos.

Happy Monday, ladies! We're heading into some warm weather here in Athens. Sun is out and Spring is fully in bloom. Such a pretty sight to see. As you probably know, we're continuing on travel week today. I'm featuring 3 On-Trend Vacation Outfits I wore during my stay at The Ritz last week.
All 3 outfits are perfect for lunch, brunch, and any shopping expeditions you may have planned. And of course, they all feature a lovely pop of color.
Today's featured items are 2 dresses and a skirt from Banana Republic, Anthropologie, and FARM Rio
All 3 outfits are modeled
All outfits are shoppable via a text or image widget
The first outfit features a popover shirt dress from Banana Republic. The feel is great and it works perfectly as a neutral backdrop for accessories.
I went with the cutest handbag to add color to the outfit. Bamboo handles are in this year. (Honestly, when aren't they?)
Ramie Popover Shirt Dress (Banana Republic) | Bamboo Elisabetta Slouch Handbag (Mark & Graham) | Sandals (old Aqua, similar here and here) | Earrings (old Tory Burch, similar here, here, and here) | Sunglasses (old Prada, similar here)
My second outfit features this tunic dress from Anthropologie. Wear it alone or put it on top of a pair of denim like these frayed jeans from Frame.
Quick vacation style tip: if you're bringing a dress, bring a bottom like leggings or jeans. Two readymade outfits at your disposal.
Maeve Embroidered Tunic Dress (Anthropologie) | Mini Boot Raw Frayed Jeans (Frame) | Caged Raffia Tote Bag (Demellier) | Sandals (old, Banana Republic similar here and here) | Earrings (old, Tory Burch similar here, here, and here)
My final outfit features this printed skirt from FARM Rio. Such a fun outfit and perfect for both Spring & Summer.
I've paired it with a long sleeve, but you could obviously swap it for just about anything: a linen popover or button-down comes to mind. And depending on where the temps are, a short sleeve or sleeveless would work perfectly too.
Also, one more vacay style tip for the road: if you can fit it in your luggage, a tote is a travel essential. The perfect bag for a day at the beach or out and about shopping.
Tee (Ralph Lauren, ) | Our Stamps Linen Midi Skirt (Farm Rio) | Espadrilles (old, Michael Kors similar here and here) | Caged Raffia Tote Bag (Demellier) | Earrings (old Tory Burch, similar here, here, and here) | Hammered Bangles (Nest) | Sunglasses (old Prada, similar here)
Travel week kicked off yesterday. If you missed what I packed for The Ritz, make sure to click the title or image below to read the article.
