Birthday Stars – Welcome, Virgo!! August 22 – September 22
We all have a special day – when we arrived in this world!!
Stars and Sapphires are for Virgo babies, those born at this beautiful time of year!!
A Birth Day is truly worthy of celebration!! No matter the age!! A little Welcome to the World- remembrance!! Creating a joyous occasion with and for those we love…in person or over the miles!!
Of course, hearing from special friends, dear or distant family is always delightful, no matter the manner! These days there are sooo many ways to stay in touch… however it works for you!! Let’s make the time!
An engraved or embossed card is always a favorite!! A treat in the post…with a special stamp! Remembering those we love is sooo important! It is one of the great joys of living!!
Embossed Beach Glass Notecards
Gifting them is charming too…with a card, memento, fragrance, or jewels…special luncheons, dinner parties, and bubbly, of course!! Embellish a special package with Stars!!
It is always fun to read about our Horoscopes and Astrology. What have we inherited from the date and time of our birth, the planets, the stars?? Understanding the universe, characteristics of our fellow man and ourselves is always a good idea!! The Secret Language of Birthdays: Personology Profiles for Each Day of the Year by Gary Goldschneider and the companion on Relationships of all kinds are favorites! Enjoy!!!

The August Virgo may enjoy the Peridot, as we explored last Saturday, September Virgo’s the Sapphire! Both beauties for sure!!
Traditionally, the deep Blue Sapphire is envisioned…coming from the Greek word for blue, sappheiros, symbolizing sincerity, honesty, truth, and loyalty. Amazingly, the Sapphire also comes in pink, yellow, orange, and even peach! This gorgeous gem is cherished around the world and, since ancient times, has represented royalty, adorned nobility, and clerics alike. It was believed to symbolize heaven, healing, and have protecting powers.
Today, it is cherished for engagement and wedding rings. Of course, Princess Diana and Duchess Kate’s jewels come to mind! Queen Elizabeth is a fan of the color and the gem too! Her feather brooch was received as a wedding gift in 1947. Sapphires are said to be many of the House of Windsor’s most sentimental jewels. History abounds…
The color Sapphire combines with White to create one of the most serene and best-loved color themes. Blue and White is a magical, classic combination – and has been for centuries throughout the entire world, continuing today! Chinese Porcelain, Japanese Imari, French Toile, as well as every conceivable designer. Bunny Williams, Carolyne Roehm, Mildred Mottahedeh, Ralph Lauren, Valentino….and many celebrities are all in love with Sapphire Blue and White…aren’t you??
It is revered for weddings, interiors, gardens, ready to wear and couture!! Modern and traditional, men and women alike love this chic, tranquil combination!! Calm and soothing…sea and sky…we all love blue and white!!
My first San Francisco living room was inspired by it!! Moldings were painted white with walls a light cornflower – bachelor button – sapphire blue! It reminds me of the Marina blue sky. I am never tired of its beauty. Today, my view of Marin is a daily inspiration…San Francisco and Mother Nature at her best!! Morning, noon, or night!
Caroline Kennedy chose this beautiful sapphire flower for her wedding theme. Mildred Mottahedeh reproduced numerous Sapphire Blue and White Chinese and Museum Porcelains for her fine China Company…from Blue Canton to Blue Dragon, Blue Lace, Imperial Blue, Chinoise Blue, and Blue Shou! Interior and table settings have been the same!

Until September….enjoy August’s final days – make a wish and toast to Virgo’s Sapphire Blue Babies!! Cheers!! xoxo MMK
