Welcome!

I’m Beth Djalali, a girl that grew up in Omaha, Nebraska – a city and state that’s smack dab in the middle of the country. Not exactly the fashion capital of the world, but not exactly hicksville either – think no further than Warren Buffett, who has claimed Omaha as his home for over 80 years. And I might add that I’ve been thankful on more than one occasion that I hail from the Midwest as I more or less have both feet planted firmly on the ground.

Needless to say, if you’ve stopped by my blog, you know I have an interest in fashion. The first photo was taken of me at age 32, and while some things have changed since then, I’m still just a girl at heart navigating through her personal style. My hope with this blog is to encourage other women to embrace their own personal style as well. Because one thing I’ve learned is that when you look great, you feel great, and you step out the door armed with confidence! I’m very keen on a versatile wardrobe built with classic wardrobe staples that can be worn over and over again. I’m also a firm believer that a beautiful closet can be achieved with affordable pieces that don’t have to break your bank. I’m happy to share what I’ve learned through the years to equip you with the fashion tools you can use and apply in very practical ways. Tools and inspiration that will help answer the inevitable question ‘what do i wear today?’ I hope my daily ootd posts will inspire you to try something new because getting dressed in the morning should be fun at the end of the day.

Besides sharing fashion inspiration, Style at a Certain Age is dedicated to aging with grace, strength, and beauty. Aging is a privilege, but as Bette Davis famously claimed, “it’s not for sissies.” Once we hit the age of fifty, things begin to change with our hair, skin, and bodies. So it’s up to us to keep fit both mentally and physically. Aging gracefully isn’t about looking younger; it’s about looking our best. So you’ll find tips on health and wellness, beauty, hair care, and skincare. While we can’t age backward like Benjamin Button, we can lead a healthy and vibrant life after fifty and beyond.

How tall are you? between 5’7″ and 5’8″

What sizes are you wearing? Mostly a size 8, size medium, and size 9.5 shoe. Sometimes I size down to a size 6; sometimes, I size up to a size 10.

Hair details? I went gray at the age of 50. No highlights, no toner, just au natural. Lyric at Republic Salon in Athens, GA, keeps me at the top of my hairstyle game.

What workouts do you recommend? Exercise is important at any age but especially as we age. And, yes, we can be fit and active after the age of 50, 60, 70, and beyond. I have a home gym that houses a Peloton and weights from 2 to 25 pounds. I hit the gym 4 to 5 times a week, incorporating strength training, cardio, and Pilates or Yoga into my exercise routine.

What do you eat on a typical day? I try to eat clean, organic foods as much as possible. I also incorporate intermittent fasting, balance my macros, and stay away from sugar and processed foods.

What skincare, haircare, and makeup do you recommend? Anything and everything can be found on opens in a new windowStyle at a Certain Age with the aid of the toolbar or search bar.
