february is here. Punxsutawney emerged this morning and did not see his shadow, and he predicted an early spring. fantastic news. so, as we leave winter, i put together the top 5 January posts as chosen by you. i hope you enjoy the recap and are ready for the great month we have prepared for you: it’s all about travel. stay tuned!
today we continue my home tour with a view of my kitchen and laundry room. as you can imagine, i spend a fair amount of time in both rooms. the kitchen is a place where the family often gathers to help fix a meal or sit for breakfast. the kitchen is the heart of the home, so it makes perfect sense that it’s a place of comfort. are we ready for Wednesday, ladies? we are halfway through this last week of January and i am enjoying the cooler temps and sunny days here in Athens. who thinks Punxsutawney Phil will see his shadow this February 2nd? spring is technically around the corner for us, as the equinox is March 19. but we all know that winter weather will stick around for a lot of us well after the official first day of spring. today, we’re talking top winter coatigans.
while we await Punxsutawney Phil’s verdict, i have my Ann Taylor coatigan back in action today. i have acquired a few of these sweater coats this winter and i have been loving them with everything. you may remember the one from Anthropologie i wore over the holidays (last seen here and here). i have a cashmere camel version and a cotton/wool grey version, both of which are from J.Crew and have been on style repeat all winter long. it’s friday gang! and you know what that means: fridays with oscar. this is probably my favorite blogpost of any given week, and it’s our second one of the year. for my regulars, you know what to expect: a delicious entree, cocktail and some lovely pictures of the magnificent Oscar. but before we get that far, i want to take a quick step back. one of our primary topics of discussion this week has been color. we started off the week with a totally neutral-based outfit, but i also showed you how to build a simple but interesting monochromatic outfit in blue. today, i’m gong to marry aspects of the two outfits together and show you how to add color to a neutral outfit. rain, rain, go away. there’s been an abundance of rain in Athens the past few weeks, but we won’t let that sour our friday mood! today we’re bringing you a healthy recipe for the new year: instant pot lemon garlic chicken. and of course, we’ve got a new cocktail that i know you’ll love – winter aperol spritz. oscar is ready for his weekly gig. although if he looks sad in the photos, it’s because he splashed my cocktail on the carpet before we started…. he truly felt bad. kids and dogs. you never know just quite what will happen at any given moment.
ollie decided to show up today, so for all of you cat lovers, you’ll see a glimpse of her. and i’ve thrown together a comfy cozy outfit that’s perfect for a dreary winter day. [read more…]
hello, winter! it’s a balmy 48 degrees in Athens today. New York woke up to 40 degrees, but Minneapolis takes the cake with a brisk 36. when the going gets tough, the tough reach for winter essentials. for me, that’s a cashmere turtleneck dress from Everlane. today, we’re going to talk about how to wear a sweater dress multiple ways.
this dress gets lots of mileage on cold winter days. it’s practical enough to fly solo with over-the-knee boots. or layer this dress over leggings. granted, those of you living in the frozen tundra will have to choose your footwear according to the current weather forecast. lucky for me, Athens temps bounce around quite a bit. today its chilly for sure but a seventy-one-degree day is on the horizon. on those days i can get away sans socks. but take heart if that isn’t your cup of tea. nowadays there are so many cute socks or booties to keep your tootsies warm. the twenty-first century offers lots of options. Nice selection of posts and OOTD’s. I feel confident Phil didn’t see his shadow since we have pink trees already blooming and our daffodils literally came up in January this year. Yikes–that’s over a month earlier than usual for us. This has been one of the warmest winters ever for us.
Good morning, Beth!
You look extremely elegant, sophisticated and beautiful in the all-black outfit above (sweater tunic and leggings) – an absolutely marvelous look.

Love your posts. How do you get a lot of body in your hair? Do you wash it every day? Thank you.
