sweater blazer weather has arrived
the best part of fall and fall fashion is the third layer. whether that be a denim jacket, blazer, cardigan, or better yet, a sweater blazer, a third layer always adds polish to your outfit. yes, sweater blazer weather has arrived, ladies. so i’m pulling one out from storage. there’s nothing better to wear (imho) than a hybrid of two of my favorites – a sweater and a blazer. it’s the best fashion item to come along in decades. a sweater blazer has the cozy feel of a sweater yet has the silhouette found in a blazer. it’s polished without being stuffy. and it’s definitely been added to my must-have basics list.
sweater blazer weather can be tricky to navigate with the temps bouncing from chilly to warm back to cold. it’s enough to drive us batty. but when you have the basics on hand and add layers, your outfit choice just got a little easier. today it’s all about casual ease, so i reached for a pair of jeans. is there anything that doesn’t go with jeans? one of my favorite color combos for fall is black and camel, so a pair of black skinny jeans is the obvious choice to pair with this camel sweater blazer. if you ever scratch your head wondering what colors go together you can reach for a color wheel or you can find color inspiration found in nature, a scarf, or even shoes where the color scheme is built-in. notice how my leopard shoes are the starting point for today’s ootd. putting together an outfit can be as easy as 1,2,3.

since sweater weather is in full swing (can you believe it’s the last week of October?!), i’m taking full advantage by doubling up today. what’s better than slipping a sweater blazer from J.Crew over a crewneck cashmere sweater from Everlane? add a pair of skinny jeans from Everlane and leopard driving mocs from Talbots, and i have a simple but chic outfit perfect for any day of the week. working from home? check. running errands? check. dinner with friends? check. didn’t i tell you it was the perfect outfit? it’s sweater blazer weather, and i’m feeling fine.

Some of my favorite wardrobe items in my closet, are my sweater blazers. I’ve never called them sweater blazers before, but I will now! LOL I just bought a new one that I have been hunting for, for 2 years. it finally appeared in my favorite store saying…”here I am, I’ve been waiting for you to buy me!” It’s a longer, red and black buffalo check. Our weather here in south west Michigan is perfect Sweater Blazer weather today.

i’m wearing a medium but it is roomy. if you want a more streamlined look i think you could safely size down.

I have had a longer black sweater jacket from Talbots for several years. My daughter has always commented that she would like one. She has recently streamlined her wardrobe to suit her lifestyle. I started Christmas shopping a few weeks ago, and I purchased a lovely black sweater jacket for her. She works from home but drives her two young daughters to school every morning. This will be an easy and quick way to look polished when dashing out the door. Talbots had their 40% off sale – I ordered it early one morning and received an e-mail that it was ready for me at the store within an hour’s time. They offer curb side pickup, but I wanted to go in to see what else they had that would catch my eye. Sounds like a Talbot’s ad doesn’t it?
