“A classic never goes out of style.” And that idea rings true with the beauty classics I’m sharing today — the products that have lived on our mothers’ vanities, in our first makeup bags, or launched a decade (or several!) ago and are still going strong.
In a beauty world where brands discontinue favorites the moment we fall in love with them, any product that survives 10, 20, or even 70 years deserves a moment in the spotlight. These aren’t the newest or trendiest items, but they’re the ones with staying power — and that’s worth celebrating.

These classics are like having an animal print coat in your closet, like this amazing Free People duster coat, similar to what I’m wearing here, because we all know leopard is a neutral!

Now onto the eight beauty classics — and yes, I’m wearing every single one of them in the photos so you can see them in action.
Key Takeaways
Eight products made this list, spanning decades of beauty history. Some cost under $20, others are investment pieces — but every single one has earned its place through loyal fans, reliable performance, and years of repeat purchases. A few are even marked down right now, so if one catches your eye, it may be worth grabbing sooner rather than later.
The Roundup: 8 Beauty Classics Still Worth Buying
1. Moisturizer

Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré ($19) — launched in 1950
This French classic has been around for 76 years — and for good reason. It’s a moisturizing mask, primer, and cream all in one, and one tube sells every eight seconds worldwide. As you can see from my photo, I’m due for a new one… and yes, the packaging has changed!
2. Eyeshadow
Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette ($59) — launched in 2013
Rose-hued neutrals, mauves, burgundies — this palette has survived the rise and fall of dozens of trendy palettes. Its mix of matte, satin, and shimmer shades makes it endlessly wearable. If you love the color story but want something smaller, the mini version is a great option.
Check out this recent post I wrote on How to Wear Burgundy Makeup this fall! And if you’re not sure you want a palette that big, but love the color scheme, there is luckily a mini version of the Naked 3.

3. Foundation

Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup ($52) — launched in 1997
Elizabeth Hurley helped launch this foundation nearly 30 years ago, and it’s still one of the most reliable formulas on the market. Oil-free, long-wearing, soft-matte, and never cakey. I’m wearing shade 3C2 here — and I never use primer with it.

4. Powder
Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder ($48) — launched in 1996
One of the original Laura Mercier products — and still the gold standard for setting makeup without heaviness. The newer blurring version is talc-free and infused with hyaluronic acid. It now comes in color-correcting shades like Mint (for redness) and Rose (for brightening).

5. Blush

NARS Blush in Orgasm ($36) — launched in 1999
The blush that launched a thousand dupes. Peachy-pink with golden shimmer, universally flattering, and still one of the most purchased blushes in the world. If you haven’t tried it at least once, I’d be shocked!
6. Mascara
L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Original Mascara ($12) — launched in the early 1990s
Soft, full lashes without stiffness — and a drugstore price. I prefer Carbon Black for maximum drama. People love to talk about Maybelline Great Lash, but in my opinion, Voluminous outperforms it every time.

7. Lip Pencil

MAC Lip Pencil in Spice ($25) — launched in the early 1990s
A true ’90s icon. This rosy-cinnamon brown liner defined the supermodel nude lip era and still works beautifully today. I wear it constantly — including in my recent beige makeup tutorial and my Cindy Crawford-inspired look.

8. Lip Gloss
Buxom Full-On Plumping Lip Gloss ($26) — launched in 2006
Twenty years later, this gloss still delivers juicy shine, fuller-looking lips, and that signature cooling tingle. My go-to shades: Dolly (mauve) and Hot Toddy (tawny nude). I’m wearing Dolly here with MAC Spice.
