recently on Instagram, i put together a Reel with all of my swimsuits i take with me on a beach vacation. here’s the caption:
you don’t need a beach bod to go to the beach. all you need is a cute suit and a sassy attitude. whether you love a two-piece, rock a one-piece, or prefer a tankini, let’s savor the last weeks of summer with the roar of the surf in our ears, waves lapping at the shore, blue skies, and sunshine!
this is my motto ‘cuz i love to dip my toes in the sand and spend the day with the wind in my hair. do i have a perfect body? absolutely not. but i’m not going to let that stop me from heading to the beach or pool, and it shouldn’t stop you. for whatever reason, baby boomers are incredibly hard on themselves and others regarding our bodies. the tendency is to shy away from clothes that aren’t slimming or show our best assets. while that’s important for certain events or occasions, you will miss half the fashion FUN if that’s the end goal all day, every day. fashion should be fun, ladies, and bring us joy. not be a drudge.
what i do have is a healthy body. one that gets its butt to the gym, Pilates, and Peloton. and i chose nutritious foods; for the most part, i eat the good fats, drink plenty of water, choose nutrient-dense foods, and eat the rainbow. but i live a spontaneous life, not a spartan life. balance is the key. i do my bit, and so far, my body is doing its bit by keeping me healthy, happy, and whole. that’s the key message of this blog: aging with grace, strength, and beauty. we can’t turn back time like Benjamin Buttons. but we can be the best versions of ourselves, imperfections and all. point out a perfect life. that’s right, there isn’t one. the good news is it’s never too late to turn around bad habits or start afresh. life has its ups and downs, but it was meant to be lived and lived fully! today truly is a new day. one of my dear friends loves this quote from George Eliot that sums things up quite well. It is never too late to be what you might have been. amen! it’s never too late.
this spring, i kicked off the season at the Ritz Carlton (read the post here) with linen track pants that have been on style repeat all summer long. linen is a summer go-to for me as it transitions to the beach with ease. or any casual outing, for that matter. it’s easy to slip on a linen blouse, shorts, or pants over your swimsuit and traipse through the lobby of your hotel or head to lunch after a swim. J.Crew always carries a nice selection of linen Talbots too. this time of year, there’s sure to be a markdown or two. this long sleeve linen blouse comes in a slim-fit and relaxed fit, as well as short sleeves and stripes.

Looking super in your linen trousers and bathing suit top .Good for you Beth you are an inspiration.
Hi Beth:
What beautiful pictures of you. It really does show how you work out with Pilates, peloton, etc. Give yourself a huge pat on the back. You truly are an inspiration to all women. I’m 77 and do need to definitely work on my core to be able to wear your outfit. I seem to procrastinate this month.
Thanks for sharing,
Phyllis
You. Look. Great.
Love this look for the beach. Looks so relaxing and stylish at the same time.
Beautiful photos! Btw, I bought these Nordstrom linen pants based on your recommendation in a previous post and absolutely love them. They have been my go to pants all summer, particularly when shorts feel too casual and most pants feel too heavy. Thanks! Love your style!
BEAUTIFUL! Gorgeous pics!
I love hearing about your health and fitness. I’ve been an avid runner all my life, but have no friends that love health & fitness like I do. Thank goodness I can share this passion with my boys. They used to run with me as kids & are now elite athletes.
You inspire me!
Terrific post and a good reminder that we shouldn’t judge our bodies and ourselves so harshly.
I’m not sure how I missed your original post with the blue cashmere sweater and blue suede loafers. I probably ordered those loafers, STAT since blue is my favorite color, especially that shade since I am a NC Tar Heel. Alas, now they are sold out in that color.
LOVE this post! The outfit is not for me but you are rocking it. What I love about this post is your positive attitude. Inspirational and so correct!
Yes
Hi Beth
You look lovely and fit! I love linen, even though it wrinkles. There is nothing like it in hot, humid weather! And, that is what we are getting right now in Iowa! The lavender shirt and white pants are stylish. Talbots offers wonderful linen, as does Lands End. Thanks for the ideas.
Joanie from Iowa
You look fabulous! I know you certainly decided not to go quietly without a fight.
I do like linen but I can’t wear white linen pants and feel comfortable.
What a great fashion shoot and inspiration for all of us! It’s evident that you are so comfortable in your own skin, which is wonderful. I also loved your “reel.” Your bathing suits are beautiful!
Just love your style and enjoy your blog!
Great thoughts on our aging bodies. Trying to get there! ❤️
