Mother’s Day is right around the corner, May 12 to be exact, and as a mother, I always love to dress up a little for Mother’s Day, even if we’re just getting together as a family at home. If there is one day of the year to pamper yourself, throw on a cute outfit, and add a string of pearls, it has to be Mother’s Day! So today I am sharing Mother’s Day Outfit inspiration, and be sure to check out my Mother’s Day gift guide at the end of the post.

Since Mother’s Day is in May, I always think of beautiful lilacs and lavender flowers. This year’s color trends have these shades of purple high on the list, so it feels just right to wear this color for Mother’s Day. This color is so feminine, soft, elegant and sophisticated. And it goes beautifully with all skin tones.

Wearing an outfit of monochromatic white is something I always encourage women to try. Few outfits are easier to put together and the results are always sophisticated and elegant, even if it’s a casual ensemble. This year, stark white, meaning the brightest white of all the white shades is a big color trend. I featured this classic outfit recently and it’s just so easy to wear – perfect for a Mother’s Day brunch.

A pants suit of matching separates in a comfortable, flowy fabric is another easy one-and-done style outfit. These wide leg pants from Talbots drape so elegantly that achieving a classic, chic, put together look is easy!

If a more casual outing is on your Mother’s Day agenda, perhaps take that casual look up a notch with a denim pencil skirt and a classic lady cardigan. Swap out the heels for sophisticated flats and you’re looking polished, yet casual.
