winter wonderland

the weather outside is frightful although we weren’t hit with the snowstorm that paid a visit to the Carolinas. instead, we had our fair share of rain and more rain with temps in the mid-thirties. brrr! when the rain dissipated, we made a mad dash to fit in a photo shoot. even though this outfit is black and white, i’m feeling quite festive wearing this wonderland embroidered jacket last seen here when it was paired with a black cashmere turtleneck dress.

last week was all about plaid on the blog when i shared two favorite patterns black watch and tartan. both prints are perfect all winter long and will jazz up a holiday outfit in no time. today’s festive outfit is anchored in neutrals but is still perfect for a christmas party, concert, or dinner for two. a trendy embroidered wonderland jacket is paired with classic staples; a bow blouse (similar here and here) and black pants (similar here). and i’m trying a new shoe designer with her sassy take on an old classic – mary jane’s. when i was a young girl patent leather mary jane’s and christmas were synonymous as well as white anklets. every christmas outfit i sported included those key items. this year, thanks to sarah jessica parker i’ve added a modern classic to my shoe closet.
