twice a year, like clockwork, Ralph Lauren releases his latest rendition of distressed jeans. a pair for spring/summer and likewise for fall/winter. both seasons have been represented on the blog here and here. i know, i know, many of us have firm opinions about distressed denim and that they should never be worn under any circumstances. call me crazy, but i never say never. and, if done right, distressed jeans look cool and chic, fresh and modern and puts a little spring to your step. if there’s one designer i trust to get this look right it’s the king of classics good ole ralph. but the question remains. how to wear distressed jeans?
one secret that i’ve shared many times on the blog is marrying a trend with a classic. that’s right, trends and classic staples can and do go hand in hand. so i reached for a cashmere turtleneck, grabbed a pair of brown leather loafers, and added a menswear-inspired glen plaid coat for good measure. it’s a simple outfit that packs a lot of punch thanks to the distressed jeans. but even my handbag similar here has a classic satchel silhouette.
