if it’s spring, then it’s time for a third layer. jackets, cardigans, or blazers are always at my beck and call this time of year. why? spring may be beautiful, but she can be fickle. one day the sun is shining with 70-degree temps. the next day can be overcast and downright chilly. one never knows what storm she’s brewing. take heart! that’s when spring wardrobe staples come into play. recently i shared my spring jacket all-star list with you. a denim jacket always makes the list no matter if it’s on-trend or off. in my opinion, a denim jacket is worth its weight in gold. it’s perfect to wear on the plane when traveling. it looks fantastic with a skirt, dress, shorts or pants. it lasts for years. and comes in a variety of styles.
if you follow my Instagram account, then you know my master bathroom renovation is underway. can’t wait for the final result! but for the next month, i’m camping out in my guest bedroom. you would think since it’s just me, myself, and i living at casa djalali; it would be a breeze to move from one room to the next. guess what? there’s more than one extra pile of stuff stacked in my guest bedroom, and you should see my main bathroom! it ain’t pretty, that’s for darn sure. i can’t decide if i should try and organize my displaced toiletries for the project’s duration or just keep everything boxed up? oh, to have such silly problems. i’ll take ’em! there’s nothing i love more than sprucing things up to make my home functional and beautiful to boot.
today’s ootd was inspired by classic style icon Reese Witherspoon for my classic style series on Instagram. the entire outfit is built on spring wardrobe staples. it starts with a denim jacket (old, similar here, here, and here), a graphic tee (old, similar here, here, and here), a pair of blue jeans from Talbots (limited sizes, similar here, here, and here) pointy-toe pumps (old, similar here, here, and here), and a cute red camera handbag from J.Crew (red no longer available, similar here and here) to polish things off. yes, it’s a double denim kind of day, and i think i like it. footwear, handbag, and jewelry are the accessories that make or break any outfit. and they add your personal spin to style. so you like white sneakers and a tote? a-ma-zing. or how about ballet flats and a wicker handbag? go for it! that’s the beauty of accessories. they let your style shine through.

Love these comparisons. I like yours better!
aren’t you sweet?! thanks so much!
Very flattering silhouette & fit. Proving yet again why “a column of color” is a great choice to build an outfit around.
And I love the bold pop of pink/red in the top. I thought at first that it was from Chico’s.
this is an older tee from Talbots. i’m always a sucker for pink and red. great color combo.
You look absolutely beautiful in this ootd! Thanks for sharing.
always love to slip into a pair of blue jeans and tee!
Love this look ! Been a jeans girl forever ! Thanks for reminding me this look still works ! I’m 65 and I’m gonna rock it !
nothing better than a pair of blue jeans!
Why are they called camera bags? Because of the strap?
You look great!
The whole denim combo looks great together!!
with the accessories that you have add to it, even better!!
such a fun look to wear!
If this were: “Who wore it better” — I would definitely give you the win over Reese Witherspoon, Beth! I think the double denim works. You look wonderfully put together!
awww, you made my day. thank you!
Love the longer length jeans, take them over ankle grazers any day and always a sucker for colourful shoes.
i always say shoes make or break your outfit!
Love how you enjoy wearing “high heels”! My sweet Mother, passed at age 98, used to tell me wear those short skirts and high heels. Now that I’m 77 my skirts aren’t that short and my shoes are “kitten” heels or wedges but her words ring true when I think of you and your beautiful style!
love your mother’s attitude! but even kitten heels are “heels” no matter the skirt length. keep on being you.
Hi Beth!
I just wanted to say, you rocked it better the Reese Witherspoon!!
Just love the outfit!!
Thank you for allthat you do!
you are so welcome! i so appreciate you being here.
I just purchased those exact jeans this afternoon, before reading your post. I must have been channeling you. Really cute outfit.
one of my favorite pairs of jeans!
White pants worn with stripped top
Wher may I purchase those?
