With Thanksgiving coming up next, I know the traditions of how that day will go for me and exactly what kind of style I want to go for. We always celebrate TWICE in one day! First, we do a turkey lunch (on cute paper plates) with my side of the family which is known for having plenty of mimosas and a casual buffet style. Note my custom wine glass that reads “More fun than two twenty-year-olds!”
After a long lunch, we hop in the car for the hour's drive into the city of Atlanta to be with my husband's side of the family. This is usually a larger and slightly fancier dinner meal with real china at my sister-in-law's house.
This means my look for the holiday needs to be comfortably chic, by wearing my favorite AE denim jeggings with a blousy sweater (so I can eat however much I want!). Then I top off this casual look with statement sparkle earrings and a bold lip.
Check out these 4 quick and easy makeup inspirations and the products to get you there…
Luminous skin that looks as if it's “glowing” is one of the more beautiful ways to enhance your natural features and make sure they take center stage.
How to do it : Pulling off this look is all about building a gorgeous base. Ensure your skin is well hydrated with your favorite moisturizer, then layer a hardworking primer over that. I’d suggest the Charlotte Tilbury Wonder Glow Soft Focus Primer, $55, because it gives that blurred skin with a subtle glow before you even put on your makeup!
Now apply your foundation or tinted moisturizer, and finish with a setting powder like the beloved Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder, $54, all over the face. Hourglass has nailed the flawless skin with this powder formula.
Now you can take your “lit skin” even a step further by adding a highlighter on top of those cheekbones and center bridge of nose for extra glow. If you prefer a liquid/cream formula, definitely give the elf Halo Glow Beauty Wand, $9 a try. You could apply this on top of the foundation for lots of light or under it for a more subtle glow. I am wearing the shade “Champagne” in this post.
If you want a powder highlighter, y’all have already heard that I am obsessed with the iconic Universal shade of the Dior Backstage Glow Palette quad, $48. It’s 4 color choices can be used separately, but also swirled together! I’m wearing it in this Makeup Bag Essentials post.
Why not switch up your nail color to resemble the cozy mood of the holidays! Currently, I’m loving this deep lush green by Essie, called “Off Tropic.” It looks so decadent, and sophisticated, and feels so perfect for fall and even the season of Christmas trees! Grab a bottle and wear it through New Year's!
You know I couldn't do a holiday makeup post without including our lips! The simple act of stepping out of the nude lip gloss box and trying a bold statement shade is a definite attention grabber.
The holidays are certainly a great time to play with color. And you’re probably going to want to look for durable results because of the champagne, appetizers, and desserts you’ll be enjoying at these gatherings! So opt for formulas designed to last. Typically matte finishes work best for this.
How to do it: What makes a statement lip so easy to pull off, is that you can wear it with a super simple eye look like I’m wearing here. I love the unexpected punch of the MAC “Flat Out Fabulous” shade, $23, which is the bright matte plum shade I’m wearing in this post. It makes your teeth appear extra white also IMO.
And if you want a traditional red that always works, y’all, I am infatuated with the Fenty Beauty Icon Velvet Liquid Lipstick in shade “The MVP,” $29. Want to see it in action? Watch me showcasing a before and after application in this YouTube Short.

Another way to add a splash to your look if your outfit is more casual, is to incorporate some earlobe adornments! I’m wearing the popular Amazon rectangle rhinestone earrings, $14, that come in 28 different shades and color combos! You’re bound to find a pair to go perfectly with any outfit. Make sure to grab a box of earlobe support patches too - I love wearing big earrings and these help prevent droopy earlobes!
Last one. Now don’t be scared off by it though! I have the easiest way to make your eye beds sparkle, but in a low-key very wearable way.
How to do it : Just grab the Urban Decay MoonDust Glitter Shadow Single, $24, in shade “Space Cowboy.” It’s a light champagne-gold with silver sparkle that can be added to any eye makeup look of any color! It’s like placing the tinsel on the Christmas tree.
It adds that touch of glimmer and a slightly wet look with its micro-fine glitter! Place it over the center of the eyelid, right in the tear duct area, and even along the lower lash line for the perfect amount of sophisticated sparkle.
Or, if you long for more than one shimmer option, you can have the MoonDust Glitter Palette, $39, of 4 fun shades that work as great lid toppers.
So whether your upcoming celebrations are super dressy, or more casual, you’ll know how to do your makeup to match the occasion and the outfit you choose to wear. Because let’s be honest, when we are gathered around a table or simply enjoying a cocktail party, our attention is always focused on the FACES of the ones we love.

I want to say thank you for the Il Makiage makeup recommendation! I could not believe the match when I tried it. First time I’ve ordered foundation online and been totally satisfied with the finish, the color, and price!
That’s wonderful Rhonda! I feel like so many people are concerned Il Makiage won’t really be able to send the right shade, but they really have gotten that quiz down to a science!! Glad I gave you the confidence to give it a try. It’s a win win situation tho bc if it’s wrong, you can send it back at no cost!
