graduations are a milestone in everyone’s life. can you believe (i can’t!) that my 40th high school reunion is this year?! didn’t i just turn 40? but i vividly remember my graduation ceremony held outside in the football stadium. 800 of us lined up to shake hands and smile for the camera with thoughts of graduation parties swirling in our heads. and that’s the kicker about graduations. they are either indoors or out. long or short depending on the size of the school or department of study. as with most special occasions, i rely heavily on the mighty dress – it just works. today’s silhouette is a page taken directly from the eighties. a drop-waist dress and blazer. i love the looser fit of clothes this season from the wide-leg pant to the midi-length. it’s feminine, fun and comfortable to wear. and perfect for graduation day whether i’m seated in an air-conditioned venue or outside under the blazing sun. if by chance, after the ceremony we’re headed directly to a celebratory lunch with the graduate in tow i’m ready. and don’t forget about those photo-op opportunities. you need to be picture perfect for most of the day so keep your lipstick on hand for touch-ups. take a look at what i wore last year here.
in today’s shop the post, i’ve shared a few fun dresses with today’s silhouette in mind. modcloth is a great source for reasonably priced dresses. check them out!

Perfect outfit for attending a graduation! I have seen people in cutoff and flip flops…the fashion police should issue citations… My 50th high school reunion was last summer…where does the time go? xoxo
anything goes these days that’s for sure. but i’ll always be a bit traditional when it comes to celebrations! as for time? i wonder where it goes too…

Great look for graduation! Time flies, for sure. My 40th college reunion is this year, and it just hit me that next year my daughter is having her 15th. Yikes!
for some reason when my kiddos hit a milestone that’s the time i stop dead in my tracks. time really does fly by!
