it’s fall y’all! at least in my mind. even the weather decided to cooperate with sunny skies and temps that dipped down into the ’60’s over night. later this week we’ll see the 50’s! what fun to wake up to a brisk chill in the air.
it’s fall y’all! at least in my mind. even the weather decided to cooperate with sunny skies and temps that dipped down into the ’60’s over night. later this week we’ll see the 50’s! what fun to wake up to a brisk chill in the air. there’s nothing like slipping into a quilted robe and snuggly slippers if even for an hour or two. add a piping hot cup of coffee then i just might sneak down to our patio and take a front row seat to watch the birds, and the bees flit from flower to feeder then back again. what a joy to watch nature in motion. take it from me; it’s the simple things in life that are the best!
this summer, our backyard has been a work in progress. the first step was to remove a ginormous tree that shaded the entire area nestled close to the house that gave way to nothing but dirt and more dirt. this prime square footage was and is oscar’s stomping grounds. can you say mud when the skies opened up and rained?! don’t worry, mr. style was ever vigilant to clean oscar’s paws on the rare occasion he ventured out into the backyard on a rainy day instead of the front. after the tree was removed we waited patiently, okay, maybe we just waited, for fall to arrive so that the sod could finally be laid in the backyard. apparently, scorching temps and new sod don’t mix.
but i’m happy to report this is my first home design collaboration with an amazing online company – wayfair. little by little we’ve been putting our home together with most of the furniture to date purchased from wayfair. it was only fitting i work with them on our patio. these chairs are absolutely comfy. what a cozy spot to sip coffee in the morning or iced tea come late afternoon. even a glass of wine sounds mighty fine on a gorgeous sunny day evening. it’s the perfect perch to watch the sun set. even oscar approves of the backyard digs. or maybe he just wants to snag a raspberry…

once we’re finished with our coffee it’ll be time to gear up for labor day. and what better way to celebrate than with a barbecue? i just might have to share a recipe, ladies. better yet, two. enjoy your day!
a big thank you to Wayfair for this sponsored post. and thank you, readers, for supporting the brands that allow me to bring fresh ideas.

I almost feel that I was enjoying your lovely deck with you and Oscar on this Labor Day. Your deck is lovely and looks perfect for a day of relaxation and peace. Enjoy (and thanks for the fun recipes)!
what a lovely spot we have in our own backyard! it’s a slice of heaven and i think oscar approves. glad you like the recipes. i’m a sucker for deviled eggs and try to whip up a batch when the holidays arrive. they always disappear in no time flat.

What a relaxing spot you’ve created! Enjoy your day and thanks for the terrific recipes.
i’ve always been a big believer to make use of every square inch indoors and out. even if georgia has a few hot summer months the rest of the year makes up for it. and what better way to while away an hour or two if not outside?

Same here–it’s a glorious day. I am so enjoying these temps–we’ll be savoring this! My son and daughter-in-law furnished their Maine cottage with a lot of things from Wayfair. It’s nice to almost have little outside “rooms” for open spaces out of the house. Happy Labor Day!
hi sue! i’m happy to hear you enjoyed your long weekend! the weather has been absolutely glorious. but let’s see what happens with irma… it’s not looking good wherever she heads. stay safe and sound.
