Kicking off Monday with a casual chic outfit in the neutral zone. Why build your wardrobe with neutrals? Because creating outfits with timeless neutrals will age well no matter the trend cycle. Of course, I love pops of vibrant colors and we should all add those to our closets as they add interest to any outfit. Bold prints, patterns, and colors go perfectly with those hardworking wardrobe basics that allow us to create multiple outfits.
Remember my Rule of 3? Each item in your closet should fit easily into at least three different outfits. Whenever I’m shopping for new clothes this is a rule of thumb I live by. Last fall I purchased this houndstooth blazer from Banana Republic using the Rule of 3. I’ve worn it countless times as it’s a neutral that goes with just about anything and everything thrown its way.
Today, I'm showing you how to nail the casual chic look every time
I'm working in the neutral zone today and adding a modern & fresh look with a pullover hoodie

Today’s outfit starts with green cargo pants from Banana Republic. Green pants are a wardrobe staple in my closet just like black pants. An olive-toned bottom is a fantastic addition to a classic wardrobe. It adds interest and range yet is still a hardworking neutral.
To keep the look modern and fresh I added a neutral cashmere hoodie with a white button down tucked underneath. Footwear is always a key element to any outfit as it can make or break the outfit.
Many readers write asking for comfortable shoes and I can’t think of anything more comfortable than sneakers or loafers. Either would work for this casual chic OOTD but I chose suede loafers in a neutral color.
Add a classic handbag and a pair of sunnies and this outfit is complete. It took only minutes to put together because all of the items are hanging in my closet. That’s the beauty of a wardrobe built on neutrals.
