who is ready for friday and a delicious summer salad? well, i hope you said yes to both as this post is all about an easy peasy shrimp salad and al fresco dining to boot. those hot temps have been replaced in recent days with milder ones. that is if you think the mid-eighties is cool. but it’s time to dust off the glass table on our screened porch and enjoy a bite outside.
of course, there are two helpers ready to lend a hand. or in their case paw. although it seems as if all they want to do is snitch a bite when i’m not looking. gotta watch those two rascals.
it is so nice to open the porch again and enjoy the fresh air and warm summer nights.
the tortilla chips can be directly added to the salad. today, i opted to serve them as a side dish as i whipped up a batch of guacamole at the last minute to make use of my ripe avocados.
table for one, please.
inside the house, we are making progress in the living room. the fireplace was recently painted white and what a difference it makes! all that’s left is flooring. we’re thinking tile instead of carpet. and the dining room chairs need to be upholstered. but we’re getting there!

every summer i have at least one pair of pants with a bold print on hand. this black and white jungle motif are from Talbots 2016. check out a similar pair here and here. a basic black tee is a summer staple. if i’m in a time crunch or have a bold print i’m not certain how to style i always reach for the basics. these closet workhorses have bailed me out a time or two. last but not least i’m wearing my new shoe crush Tory Burch studded thong sandal. today’s ootd was as easy to put together as the shrimp salad! at the end of the week, i need easy. who agrees?

a frozen margarita sounded yummy today. it’s the perfect companion to shrimp, tortilla chips (i use quinoa and black bean chips), and guacamole.

Here is South Florida, the weather is still extremely hot and we have yet to get any relief from the heat and the oppressing humidity. The shrimp salad sounds delicious and would be perfect, but eaten indoors for us. I understand wanting tiled floors as a) it’s cooler and b) I also have a Shepherd and oh the shedding! PS: Gunther says hello to Oscar!
It is always so lovely to see your beautiful home, Beth with the ever adorable Oscar and Ollie. I was just thinking about having a shrimp dish and this looks delicious. I want to wish you the happiest of birthdays this Sunday.
Hope you have a lovely birthday! (My husband’s was the 13th.) We are in North Florida and we have had no relief in temperatures get – maybe in about 6weeks. Enjoy those cooler temperatures! Oh, just something to think about, tile is very hard and can cause issues with your back. We opted for wood laminate – still easy to maintain with animals but much easier on the back.
Wishing you a happy birthday for Sunday, Beth! I turned sixty today! Had a wonderful photo shoot with my family last evening. I am in Nova Scotia, Canada. You first caught my eye because of your love of dressing up blue jeans – so do I! I too, love a classic, tailored style. My kids – son and two daughters, are all in their thirties and my grandkids are nine and one. My grandkids were also both born in August. Love your style and blog and of course, Oscar and Ollie! Have a wonderful birthday tomorrow!
