fridays with oscar

i don’t know about you but i’m always happy when the calendar rolls over to friday. there’s something special about a day that completes the work week yet kicks off the weekend. and it just so happens to be my favorite photo shoot of the week. due to my favorite sidekick making his weekly appearance. this week, fridays with oscar have us headed to a casual barbecue. special occasion week is drawing to a close. today, we salute father’s day one of my favorite summer celebrations. and while mother’s day (this sunday – see what i wore here) is typically all about brunch in our house, father’s day is more laidback with a backyard bbq. since i hail from nebraska, i make a mean hamburger that’s ever so tasty when flipped on a grill. recipe here courtesy of ina garten. fresh veggies and fruit are ripe for the picking in june, so trays laden with both varieties are stacked on our dinner table. along with a few delicious dips. with the casual ease of home entertaining, my ootd needs to match the mood. what’s better than a pair of linen pants that captures the first blush of summer? this lightweight cotton sweater not only gives me a pop of color, but it’s also quite on trend with a tassel tie and high/low cut. add a pair of gladiator sandals and i’ll be ready to celebrate father’s day in style. now if i can only round up my three rascals who will be sure to scoop up that last hint of spinach dip…
