Happy Friday, gang! Another week has come and gone, and so has my beach getaway to Cancún, Mexico. It was a relaxing trip filled with blue skies, sunshine, and a white sandy beach that stretched for miles. Margaritas on the rocks, guacamole, and chips, plus a good beach read are all that’s necessary to keep this girl happy. I am truly my mother’s daughter in so many ways. Now it’s time to switch gears and get back to work. I’ve got a fun one for you today: how to make a charcuterie board.
While I was gone, my garage door was finally installed! Hooray! It’s beautiful. Next up is a paint job outside. Yes, the house is getting a facelift, and I finally decided to paint the brick! The prep work started while I was in Mexico; barring rain, I will have a brand spanking fresh coat of paint (or two) by the end of next week. Black gutters were installed in February, so along with a new garage door and paint job, my 70s ranch will look fresh and modern. Houses need to keep up with the times just like us!
Today’s outfit is just as simple to throw together as the charcuterie tray! It’s a simple style uniform for spring and summer: denim, tee or blouse, and sandals. When spring rolls into town the rinse of my denim gets lighter.
Yes, it visually adds pounds but I’m totally okay with putting FUN into my wardrobe and nothing says summer than a pair of light rinse denim from Ann Taylor. Y’all know my love of white blouses so it was time to slip into a short sleeve version of this iconic closet staple from J.Crew (old, similar here and here). Add a pair of white sandals from Tory Burch and this outfit is in the bag.

Today’s menu couldn’t be easier or more perfect for a beautiful spring day. Wine and cheese, anyone? A charcuterie board is so easy to put together especially last minute when friends and family drop by. There is nothing better than sitting on my screen porch with a glass of wi e in hand and good company.
Today, I chose a savory board for my theme that includes one hard and one soft cheese. I added nuts, cured meats, pickled vegetables, olives, sweet fig jam, and a crusty baguette. So easy, right?
I have a tried and true method to pull together a platter in no time flat! And what’s easier than uncorking a bottle of red and white wine? I always like to keep one of each on hand. So come join Oscar and me, and Ollie whose always in the background.

Oscar, Ollie, and I wish you a lovely weekend!

You are right – a simple outfit and a relaxed visit on the porch couldn’t be a better antidote to a terrible news week between Ukraine and omicron. The sadness is overwhelming at times.
I will say charcuterie boards are off my list now. They end up looking messy and unappetizing to me. We need a new idea! I’m bored with the board.
obviously, i’m not bored with the board. it’s one of the easiest and simplest ways to entertain.
Love those jeans, they have a really nice cut! Love Oscar too… very partial since I have a Shepherd as well 🙂 Gunther sends his greetings to Oscar!
hi, Gunther! German Shepherds are just the best breed ever!
Welcome back home! So glad you enjoyed your getaway. You look well rested. Oscar looks great. Ollie is funny, yawning? You are so blessed with these two. My Rilee is holding her own. God bless her. Rainy & dreary today in Wisconsin but I saw a tulip pushing up this past week so Spring is soon. Also the Canadian Geese are coming back by the dozens. Excellent sign. Have a great week.
spring is on its way! glad to hear Rilee is holding her own. take care!
My taste definitely runs to the simple side, so your jeans & short sleeved white shirt are perfect. While I love Oscar, I’m always happy when Ollie makes an appearance. The shot with her yawning is great. Happy weekend!
she has the sweetest disposition too! whenever we’re shooting FWO she’s always nearby keeping an eye on us.
That outfit looks great on you! And omgosh, that pic of Ollie yawning – I love it!
isn’t she a hoot?! have a great weekend!
I enjoy reading your blog. Most of the time I think your choices are great. I would like to say I clicked on the link for the Apple Watch band. $695.00 for a watch band? I guess I am not your average reader. Could you please include alternative Choices for someone who likes your style but does not have your budget? Just a thought. Thanks.
thanks for the suggestion, audrey! the blog is chock full of different price points for clothes and jewelry. i hope you’ve caught one or two of those posts. but i like to look at jewelry as investment pieces that last a lifetime and i wear a watch every day so if i pro-rate this purchase it’s a steal. that said if you have an Apple watch there are soooo many choices when it comes to bands. i know there’s one perfect for you!
I love boards! Yours is so pretty and appetizing.
I started creating boards during this past football season. They made the perfect way to snack during the games and were enough to serve as dinner for us!
I agree, they are so simple.
Your simple outfit is great too! Looks easy and breezy.
Happy weekend!
and there are so many variations when it comes to boards. last winter i put together a hot chocolate board. love your tip for football season. have a great weekend!
You have great taste in wine! Love your choices. Great board presentation
i’m definitely a new world wine kind of gal. and i’m partial to California wines. remember when Europe thought we couldn’t produce a good grape? ha! but New Zealand and Chile are favorites of mine too. thanks for stopping by.
Love the tippy-toe photo of Oscar! Nice simple outfit and great post on charcuterie board. Thank you. I’ve followed your food lead before and it works out well.
I love, love the Oscar photos (and cool Ollie, even tho I’m a ‘dog person).
my recipes are fast, easy, and for the most part healthy. i’ve found simple suits my lifestyle. Maine Coon cats personalities are very dog-like. so affectionate with loads of personality.
Hi Beth
Boards don’t have to be messy. My granddaughters put together an amazing charcuterie table at thanksgiving. I provided the stuff and they made it a work of art. We also served Josh wine as it has been a tradition since I served it for grandson Joshua’s Thanksgiving 21st birthday. Loved the pictures of Oscar and Ollie. They stole the show this time
boards can truly be works of art in the right hands!
You look fabulous in everything you wear.
Sometimes simple is the very best way. But even doing simple, you do it so classy. I love charcuterie trays especially in the summer around the pool. You gave me some good ideas. It is a treat to see Oscar and Ollie. Pets add so much to our lives.
i was so happy to see Oscar and Ollie when i returned from Mexico. and they were so excited to see me too. you are so right, pets add so much to our lives.
Love the simple board you created. I am definitely going to try it soon. What a great way to entertain! Thank you for sharing! Love your blogs!
it never has to be complicated to invite friends and family over. boards are simplicity in motion.
That’s my kind of early Friday evening! Good conversation with a friend, a glass of Pinot Noir, and a beautiful chartreuse board. Oscar and Ollie are big bonuses also! I love chartreuse boards since you have a variety of things to graze on. Cheers!!
come on over!
I love the simple idea of switching to a light wash Jean in the Spring. Pretty, simple outfit, and the sandals give it a light lift. Can’t wait to see a picture of your house w painted brick..that’s gutsy but I’m sure it will look great.
i am a big fan of the lighter rinse. it’s fresh for spring. it took me six years to finally pull the trigger on painting the brick. but it’s going to be gor-geous!
Seeing photos of Ollie , (beautiful BTY ) on the table reminds me of a saying, “Dogs have masters, but cats have servants”.
too cute!
Love Ollie yawning! So cute! I am now craving a friday night charcuterie board and a glass of wine!
bon appétite!
I live in a 1974 ranch style house. It has some reddish- orange brick on the front and the fireplace on the back of the house. I’m really wanting to paint the brick to update the “look”. What color are you going to paint your brick? Is it a difficult process?
not at all. my painter pressure washed the bricks first. only two coats which is pretty standard for your house. i’m going with an off white with black shutters. i’ll share the after in a week or two. but i already painted my brick fireplace upstairs and my stone fireplace downstairs. best decision!
Nice and fun outfit. I like wearing white but most white tops are thin. What do you wear under white tops?
