shopping spree in Atlanta

hi ho, it’s off to work i go. and i do love my job as it allows a shopping spree in Atlanta. yes, i’m headed to Nordstrom’s today to scope out the in-store selection. my daughter-in-law kelly is joining me, so i will share our dressing room escapades tomorrow. get excited petite sizes as kelly will rock the petite-sized clothes in addition to my size 8. can’t wait to see what we find and what will come home with us.

so what to wear on a shopping spree in Atlanta? something comfortable, casual yet chic. a opens in a new windowlinen dress from opens in a new windowEileen Fisher ticks all the boxes. this opens in a new windowiconic brand is featured in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. can’t wait to touch and feel their sale items.

shopping spree in Atlanta

opens in a new windowEileen Fisher is a brand beloved by many due to its high-quality craftsmanship and natural fibers. this opens in a new windowshirtdress is no exception. it’s made from 100% organic linen and comes in two colors. but the best part is this opens in a new windowdress has an oversized fit with pockets! for whatever reason, i am enamored with dresses with pockets. who remembers the scene from Bridesmaids when annie sang the praises of the dress with pockets. that’s me! and you could twirl in that dress to boot if memory serves me correctly. while this opens in a new windowshirtdress isn’t made for twirling, it does lend itself to ease of movement, which i love, especially on a hot summer day.

it’s recommended to size down in this opens in a new windowdress which i did though it’s made to be oversized. while black sandals would look terrific with this simple shirtdress, i decided brown sandals (old, similar opens in a new windowhere) would add contrast and tie back to the wicker handbag (old, similar opens in a new windowhere) trimmed in black. accessories are sleek and simple today to match the simplicity of the dress. a long opens in a new windowTory Burch station necklace ( opens in a new windowsimilar here), opens in a new windowgold hoops from opens in a new windowJulie Vos, and a opens in a new windowgold link bracelet are just the ticket. and my white sunnies ( opens in a new windowsimilar here) are back in action today.

Please give us an article about appropriate undergarments. I don’t see slips sold anywhere but I still feel naked in a skirt or dress without one. I’m so afraid it can be seen through!

  2. I usually cannot wait to see your site, You wear such classy outfits, but I am really on the fence with this baggy tent dress. Being 5’3″and petite, it would overwhelm me. as well as your petite daughter-in-law. Happy shopping.

    • completely understand your sentiments. however, there’s a time and place for an oversized shirtdress. a hot summer day fits the bill for me.

    HI Beth!
I know you and Kelly are having a really fun time shopping at Nordstrom today. I just love my “girls’ time” with my two daughters-in law, too! I will be very interested to see what you choose and zero in on at the Anniversary Sale, because I was very uninspired and disappointed with the offerings this year. But I know you will find some treasures to rock and share with us!
    Happy shopping!

I really have to agree with the previous comment. I was so surprised to see this. Truly, I don’t think that dress should be allowed out of the house.

But, in saying that, I’m certainly not a “fashionista” by any stretch!

I normally love everything you wear, but this Eileen Fisher dress looks like a K-mart housecoat on you. Sorry! Just my humble opinion.

Beth oh how I have loved your blog….I have always been a preppy one always conservative. As I have now reached my 70’s and must let go of so many of my clothing treasures…do you have a suggestion as to where one might sell/ donate these classics.
    Thank you!

    • Uou can sell your clothes at a consignment store. Thredup is a nice online alternative or I’m certain you have one locally available. I love to donate to Dress for Success or a local Women’s Shelter.

I absolutely love to see your posts. You look great in anything you wear! I am so impressed with your positive energy as well. I remember my momma teaching me that if you haven’t anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all….yet people think that leaving negative comments is ok. Yet your responses are so positive. Truly, you are a gem of an individual. I also have to agree with the comment about slips…….Where can we find them???
