it’s back to basics today. wardrobe basics that is. a white tee and denim skirt, are on deck today. what could be simpler to wear? most likely, there’s at least one white tee folded neatly in your drawer. and may i suggest adding a denim skirt to your wardrobe staples? it’s an easy alternative to blue jeans, especially during the hot summer months. a white denim skirt and a dark rinse denim skirt are two items i reach for time and again year after year. these wardrobe staples have staying power and go with feminine, flirty tops, sweaters, or a basic white tee. pile on the jewelry or keep it simple. the versatility is endless.
after a whirlwind trip to Atlanta that included a day of shopping at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and lunch, this girl is pooped! while the Nordstrom store selection was smaller than years gone by, kelly and i still managed to put a dent in our budgets. i’ll share all the details tomorrow. stay tuned!

sometimes, an outfit needs to be uncomplicated. those are the days i always go back to the basics. a white tee and denim skirt are two wardrobe staples that are on style repeat all year long. today, i kept the ootd simple and sweet. who doesn’t need that from time to time? typically i stock up on tees during a sale like the Nordstrom Anniversary or Talbots Red Hangar. white, black, and grey are the neutrals i keep on hand. and there are so many silhouettes to choose from when it comes to tees. crewneck tees are classic and simple to style. v-necks are flattering; bateau necks are oh so feminine; funnel necks layer well with blazers. puff sleeves are having a fashion moment, and i love a wrap-style silhouette. the rounded v-neck is a lovely alternative, and if you like a tailored tee, may i suggest a cuff sleeve tee? then there are differing sleeve lengths. sleeveless, elbow tee, long sleeve, tie sleeve, and flutter sleeves are just the tip of the iceberg. who knew there were so many options when it came to a basic white tee?
what goes best with a white tee? since i’m a blue jean mama from way back when blue jeans are always a go-to for me. during the summer months, i opt for a denim skirt. this dark rinse denim skirt from Ralph Lauren (on sale or available at Macy’s) has been hanging in my closet for years, and i love it just as much today as when it first arrived. slip-on white sneakers are also a wardrobe staple that gets a lot of mileage all summer long. add a white belt (old, similar here) and a wicker handbag (old, similar here), and this outfit is ready for a day of errands or a casual weekend.

I love a tee shirt or simple top with a denim skirt or white denim skirt. Glad you had fun shopping in Atlanta.
I bought those same Sperry sneakers this year and love them. Sprayed them With Scotch-guard in hopes of keeping them white. They are getting a little dusty looking so I’m wiping with a damp towel. Any tips on cleaning these canvas sneakers?
Have you thrown them into the wash? I will do that from time to time and let them dry in the sun.
How does that affect the leather laces?
just take the laces out before washing the sneakers.
Do you have any idea who might sell the Ralph Lauren Denim skirt other than the RL website? At some point RL decided to stop shipping to Canada and I need a company that will ship this skirt to me in Canada….
Macy’s also carries this skirt. Not certain if they ship to Canada.
