Super cute dress Beth…..I just put in shop style for sale alert!

    Blessings,

  2. Cute dress, but I am only 5’3″ so I have pretty much given up wearing midi dresses. They make me look shorter unless I wear boots with them, Just as well, as it is pretty much sold out. I do love your shoes, purse and belt a lot though. I bought one of the short skirts you modeled from Talbots with the vases on it and love it! Have a great day.

i hope you try petite sized dresses as they will fit your frame better than a regular size dress.
isn’t that skirt adorable?! enjoy it all season long.

  3. Eve says:

Very pretty dress. I probably wouldn’t wear this because of the round neckline and I’m not really into wearing dresses. The shoes are great and the orange handbag is killer.

  4. Samantha says:

Beth, interesting that it hits so many of your buttons. I like so many of your outfits, but to me this dress is a horror, missing the mark on several points, the colour combination, the ruffled hem, the pattern, even if it was free it wouldn’t be finding it’s way into my wardrobe. To me it just screams old lady!
What a difference from yesterday’s blazer which I loved.

    • Beth Djalali says:

well, i’m not certain what an “old lady” dress looks like? either you like or don’t like an outfit. period. style has nothing to do with age. and i will point out that if it missed the mark with you totally fine. but it’s sold out in most sizes so there were a multitude of women of all ages that thought it was adorable.

this blog and social channels are dedicated to aging with grace, strength, and beauty. it’s time to step away from ageist remarks like “old lady” ‘cuz if you’ve made it this far you’re technically old and if you’re wearing a dress it would fall under old lady dress. personally, as far as style goes it’s all about personal preference. clothes have sizes not ages. it’s all about staying modern, fresh and relevant.

      • Samantha says:

I agree it’s time to step away from terms like ‘old lady’, my apologies. ‘Old lady’ is how the dress makes me feel when I look at it, it drags me down. Style is ageless, colourless and creedless, it flows from within and can encompass many and any form and fashion, how you carry it off is what is important, but if you put stuff out there and invite comment, they won’t all say that they love every choice. I salute those who chose to wear this choice, but know if I saw them in the street I wouldn’t be admiring their choice.

        • Beth Djalali says:

in America our favorite sport is baseball. the best players in the game have a .333 percent batting average which means 3 out of every 10 times
up to bat they get a hit. i’ll take it! but to think that “putting” myself out there should invite ageist comments, or rude remarks is absurd.
the outfits are shared to inspire women of a “certain age” that style is ageless, that we are important, that our health is our utmost concern
and that at the end of the day aging is a privilege.

          • Samantha says:

A privilege and a joy. Please continue to celebrate the phenomena that is the over 50s woman. We rock and we know it.

  5. Pretty woman and pretty dress- what a lovely combination! Enjoy your vacay!

I get your emails daily. I appreciate your style perspective. I’m wondering if you can find another bargain type store. Maybe Target or Kohls, for those of us who don’t like Walmart.

    • Beth Djalali says:

thanks for the suggestion! i used to regularly shop at Target but just haven’t liked the direction they took about two years ago.
but i’ll see what i can come up with.

  7. Carolyn says:

Lovely print! The dress looks great on you, Beth.
In a future post, would it be possible to see you style a midi dress with a shorter heel?
    Thank you!

  8. Kathleen McDermott says:

I love this dress and already own it! It is so feminine and graceful, light as a feather and very comfortable. I wish the other color scheme was flattering to me as it is also quite pretty and I would love a 2nd dress in this style. Hoping it might come out in additional prints! I followed your lead on the Scoop moto jacket, blouse and blazer, but actually beat you to the punch on this one! Seeing how lovely you look in it assures me I made a great choice.

    • Beth Djalali says:

one of the best aspects of this dress is how lightweight it is. it’s a fun and flirty dress that i know you will enjoy wearing this spring!

  9. Donna says:

I love this dress on you…and the belt makes it! If I had just seen it on the website, I would have passed it by.

  10. Very pretty and colorful, but like your sandals better than the other ones.
    Beautiful purse!!

Thank you for this series on Walmart’s Scoop Beth. I was lucky enough to catch your youtube video over the weekend and snagged the blue faux leather jacket which is now my all time favorite. I so appreciate your advice on clothes and your incredible style sense; this 57 year old is looking so good and it is all because I follow you now:) Thank you friend!
