Hello, it's great to see you today! I don’t need a holiday to wear a bold color or a fun print, but Valentine’s Day is a good opportunity to pull out all the stops and wear fun colors like pink and red (together!), or maybe hearts on our sleeves (literally!). It seems we only see heart-printed clothes at Valentine’s, but I’d like to normalize wearing clothes printed with hearts any time of year. The graphic heart is such a beautiful shape, it connotes love, and who doesn’t want that 365 days a year?
Today, I am adding a prep to my step with heart-printed separates for petites from J.Crew Factory.
Today, Kelly shares a preppy Valentine’s outfit for petites
The outfit is shoppable via text and image widgets
Plus, two more ways to wear heart-printed separates beyond Valentine’s
Separates are so great, especially matching printed separates. Wear them together like I am today, or mix and match them with other items in your closet – it’s more bang for your buck.
Both the Cotton Poplin Shirt and the High-Rise Girlfriend Chinos are available in petite sizes from J.Crew Factory.
A navy Cropped Cashmere V-Neck from J.Crew fits a petite really well with its cropped length. I have snapped up a few regular-sized cropped cashmere sweaters from J.Crew this season and I really love how the shorter length hits right at my waist. This means I don’t have to tuck and I am not dealing with heavy or voluminous knit at my waistline.
It’s always a good idea to have at least one pair of dressy red shoes in your closet for times just like this! When you want a pop of color for contrast or to tie an outfit together, these Isa Buckle Suede Pumps from Talbots are very comfortable and their sturdy block heel is practical and easy to walk in. In fact, you may recall these shoes from my holiday outfit in Paris! I walked around quite a bit in these shoes in Paris and they wear like a dream!
Keeping my handbag simple and neutral, I have a white clutch. This one is by Kate Spade and it’s several years old, but here are some alternatives:
Bettina Studded Leather Clutch (Nordstrom) | Saint Laurent Quilted Clutch Wallet (Bloomingdale’s) | Lauren Clutch Wallet (Hobo)
I did not have a camel-colored coat, so I recently purchased the Petite Villa Coat at J.Crew. This coat is currently on sale for just about half off. So it’s a great opportunity to flesh out your winter coat collection.
