there’s nothing like new york city in spring. unless it’s fall. no matter the season nyc has its charm – an abundance of it. today, i’m headed off to several meetings then a cocktail party. so i’m keeping the ootd simple. and what’s more classic and simple than a shirtdress? this navy polka dot dress is by l.k. bennett, a brand favored by the duchess of cambridge, it’s a dream to wear and exudes that casual chic elegance I’m fond of. today, i’ve paired it with brown accessories: wedge sandals, belt, and tote, to give it an uptown look that is practical to boot. and it’s all available online at halsbrook a company that offers style solutions for your every day look with the convenience of online shopping. don’t you love it!
this is the third time i’ve partnered with halsbrook, a company dedicated to style, quality, and fit. and their assortment of American and European designers is not available anywhere else online. their styling point of view is one of sophisticated sensibility with an emphasis on ease for the woman with a hundred to-dos to check off. every piece found at halsbrook is on-trend, not trendy. amen! but what i think i love most about halsbrook is the backstory of founder, halsey schroeder. here’s a soundbite:
Halsey Schroeder has her mother to thank for many things, not the least of which is the inspiration for Halsbrook. Halsey grew up watching her mother carefully build her wardrobe – choosing beautiful pieces that would stand the test of time. Having acquired the same sense of style, Halsey soon discovered how underserved this market was. “Everything was too flashy and trendy.” And just like that, Halsbrook was born.
women influencing women – especially mothers and daughters. now, that’s a brand i can stand behind. and the best part is Halsbrook is launching their Mother’s Day Sale on April 25th with 20% off their Mother’s Day Gift Guide using code Mom20!
labels: dress L.K. Bennett; belt Ann Taylor (old, similar here and here); sandals Badgley Mischka (old, similar here and here); tote Christopher Kon; bracelets Nest
a big thank you to Halsbrook for this sponsored post. and thank you lovely ladies for supporting the brands that allow me to bring fresh ideas daily.

I am so happy that you are enjoying my “town” of NYC! Of course, you look wonderful in this lovely dress and the way you accessorized it. The opening in the dress bottom really showcases those gorgeous legs!
it’s a little chilly today, Rebecca! glad I brought my trench coat along. no matter the weather, I love NYC.

The dress is divine. Sleeve length is perfection. Oh those sandals….gorgeous. So the belt is halsbrook? I really like that.
both the sleeve length and dress length are perfect! when does that ever happen?! but I exchanged the self-tie belt with a brown one that’s about 10 years old. I never like to self-ties with the matching dress. instead, I’ll slip it on with a skirt or blue jeans.

The best outfits are ones we feel confident in all day and into the evening. Love this dress.-Laurel
This dress has a beautiful drape to it. It just moves with you when you’re on the go!

Classic dress with polka dots–which are always so fun. I always feel happy wearing polka dots. Enjoy your time in the city! I remember a few of the things from Halsbrook you wore–and I really liked them all.
Such a great company, Sue, with beautiful, classic items to choose from. What is it about polka dots that just brings a smile to your face?!

This dress is so classic yet it looks very comfortable. Talbots is having a trunk show here this week and they have several dresses I might purchase. One of them has polka dots. A classic dress is a wardrobe staple.
this is absolutely a classic dress that will serve me well. i’m certain you know talbots is having their friends and family sale this week. perfect time to add another dress to your closet!

Love this OTD…this time of year I break out all my dresses. Observation only…loved your hair much more in SF than in GA. The hardest part of moving for me is finding a stylist who gets it.
awww, my stylist in sf was amazing. but i have to share with you that it took about 3 haircuts before we hit our stride. and that’s about where i am with tran. this last haircut was truly fabulous. we just need to get it a bit longer.
