Happy Thursday! It’s been so cold here in Athens, but that hasn’t stopped me from wearing dresses and skirts. Tall boots and tights are perfect accessories for wearing dresses and skirts in the winter. I have been favoring the Water Repellant Over-the-Knee Wool Boots from Vivaia over tights lately because these boots are super warm and comfortable! Of course winter weather varies, but there’s no reason to lose inspiration for wearing what you love no matter the conditions outside. Even when I lived in Alaska, dressing smart and looking chic was of utmost importance for my job in advertising – modifications were made to suit the weather, but in the end I always left the house feeling confident and looking my best.Â

I mentioned at the top that I have been reaching for these boots pretty often over the last few weeks. I love their sleek silhouette. As a petite person, I sometimes have a hard time finding tall and over-the-knee boots that fit how I like them, without having too much gap at the boot opening. Knit boots solve this problem beautifully!Â
I have been wearing these boots without socks for hours at a time and they are very comfortable, warm and easy to walk in with their stout block heel.Â

I purchased this dress last week, it’s still on sale so the price is right. While I find this dress comfortable and well-fitting, I did notice its tendency to pill on the first wear. This surprised me a bit because I have a lot of knitwear from Madewell, and all of it has held up beautifully against pilling. But, since I have a pretty short window for wearing sweater dresses in Georgia, I tend to be more forgiving with things like pilling because I wear items only a few times per year. Plus, it’s nothing a Fabric Shaver and Lint Remover can’t fix!Â
I am sorry to report that this Houndstooth Wool Knit Coat is sold out at Madewell because I have been wearing it over every outfit for weeks. It’s a perfect example of very well-made Madewell. I found a couple of similars: Similar Houndstooth Knit Coat and an Italian Bouclé Wool Coat. A nice thick sweater coat in a classic houndstooth or glen plaid is such great winter closet staple. Each print will go with literally everything in your wardrobe.

You look so very adorable, Kelly!!
That coat caught my attention .. you wear it all so well. 🙂
Thanks so much, Carolina Girl! xo Kelly
Kelly, you look very good. However, any garment that “pills” on first wear is of poor quality and should be returned. You aren’t supposed to need to treat it.
