you may be wondering why oscar is making an appearance mid-week. and why i’m having a cocktail before friday… well, these photos first appeared in a post in January of this year. before the s**t hit the fan in 2020. but this chunky knit sweater from Talbots is back in stock, as are the faux leather leggings from Ann Taylor. since this is one of my favorite sweaters, i wanted to share it with you again! love when brands trot out old favorites. this time of year, nothing is easier to wear than a chunky knit sweater and faux leather leggings, especially when there’s a cold winter wind blowing.
the cocktail recipe can be found here. it’s called Winter Aperol Spritz. if you’re looking for a refreshing cocktail, this is it. many of you know i’m a big fan of Aperol, and i’m always looking to incorporate it into a delicious aperitif.
yes! this chunky knit sweater is a favorite of mine due to the longer length and the side zip. this sweater is available in ivory and black and is so cozy to wear. there were reviews that the fabric was cheap, but i didn’t find this to be the case. it washes well in cold water, and i always line dry my sweaters. so no problems on my end.
since my days in san francisco (can you believe it’s been five years since i relocated to athens?), i’ve loved faux leather leggings. these days, i not only wear leggings but joggers and trousers too. and i have navy, black and burgundy stocked on my shelf. faux leather pants are a nice alternative to denim all winter long that keep us looking modern and fresh. this pair has a side zip, which is flattering along with seams down the front and back.

It’s a beautiful sweater. I love chunky knits and the color is great. I just don’t like leather pants. I know they up the cool factor but I just feel uncomfortable in them. I love leather jackets on others so it’s not so much the fabric as it is the look on me. I’m short st 5’3″ so I just feel like they make too much of a statement. It looks like I’m trying to hard to impress. 🙂
better to be trying too hard than not at all! sometimes, it takes awhile to adjust to a new look. but the beauty about style is that there are choices!
Great outfit! I love this sweater as well and bought it in both colors some time ago. I am so glad the weather has cooled down in Arizona so I can wear them. Not sure about faux leather in this climate but I am considering! Wishing you wonderful holidays.
happy holidays, pam!
But don’t your feet get cold? I am in Ohio and need socks! Sock sort of ruin the glam.
if the weather dips below a certain temp i add socks or boots. but Georgia is fairly mild even in winter.
I absolutely love your painting over the mantel. Would you please tell me where you purchased such a masterful piece?
Thank you so much.
First time I’ve written but have followed for a long time. I’m a retired teacher of 42 years. Always counted on the younger teachers to keep me up to date. Now I’ve turned to you with finding your advice to be most helpful. Just had to write due to your opening spot on statement about this year. Gave me a laugh for the day as said from such a Classy Lady!

your mother was a very wise woman! happy holidays!
You look great in everything but these leggings are inspiring! Are they lined inside? Can you wear them outside in the cold or do they squeak when you walk? Thanks for all your ideas!
I’ve been wary of wearing faux-leather leggings..afraid I’d look like I was trying too hard.
But, followed the link for the Ann a Taylor leggings, read a few comments from women my age, and ordered them.
Bonus!!! Added a blouse and some socks and got 60% off!
Love the look but I think would be cuter with tartan plaid flats or leopard flats. Sweater is gorgeous!!
so many footwear choices. that’s what i love about style. it’s always about personal preferences. happy holidays!
