hello, wednesday! another day, another cloud here in athens. but boy-oh-boy does our landscape look lush and green. and the flowers are blooming away. it’s a veritable feast for the deer that roam our neighborhood. not that i mind sharing a bud here and there. but when i walk outside and don’t recognize a once flourishing hibiscus that’s been stripped right down to the bare nubbins. i’m a little peeved. plus, it appears they like to snack on cilantro as there wasn’t a single stalk remaining in their clay pot. oh, deer! so i’m putting on a brave face, hauling a few plants closer to the house, and slipping into a cheerful outfit.
and who wouldn’t smile when yellow is introduced into the mix. it looks smashing with so many colors, but today it’s taking its cue from mother nature. think bees. or more to the point bumble bees that happily buzz from flower to flower this time of year. it’s a sight for sore eyes to watch flora and fauna in motion come summer. (except for the occasional misunderstanding with the deer) mr. style and i love to sit on the patio this time of year and silently observe the birds and the bees and the flowers and the trees and the moon up above. it truly is a glorious thing to view.
but back to my ootd which is pure sunshine with a yellow cardi and paisley pants. there’s a subtle pattern mix introduced with a striped shirt which tones down the outfit. metallic sandals and belt also lend subtle sophistication. i noticed it’s been quite some time since my tried and true pearls were put into the mix. so it’s high time to give them a whirl. all-in-all i think this outfit is ready to greet the day. rain or shine.
happy hump day ladies!

What a fun look! You’re making your own sunshine, Beth! 🙂
hi sue! i always wonder how i get sooooo behind with answering comments, but you know i always love to hear from you! and i couldn’t resist this cheerful preppy outfit. i’m always a sucker for that look.

While I have no flowers and plants to worry about with the deer, I have friends that have a big problem with this. I would think there is some kind of spray that will discourage them from feasting on your garden.
Regarding today’s outfit, I love the color combo and think the accessories you have chosen really take this look to a more sophisticated, polished look.
i couldn’t resist this color combo today, rebecca! it does remind me of a bumble bee but then again i kind of like those critters and how they happily buzz from one flower to the next. as for those deer i’ve had several suggestions to spray liquid fence on my plants. so i think i’ll give it a whirl. good news is i pulled my maimed hibiscus next to the house and it’s on the mend. new growth as already sprouted.

Love the yellow and blue – a great combination in today’s oodt. I live in Southern Oregon where the deer love to visit! Get some Liquid Fence, deer and rabbit repellent, available at Home Depot, etc. Works great. It has an odor when first sprayed, but it dries odorless. It’s harmless to plants and animals. We’ve used it with great success for years.
hi bobbie! thanks so much for the tip. i am headed to home depot to pick up some supplies. in the meantime i pulled the plants closer to the house and they are already sprouting new growth.

Agree on the Liquid Fence–it works well, but you do have to reapply here and there.
Pretty colors–and I like the cool silvery tones in the shoes with the warmer yellow–mirrors the cooler blue in the top and pants.
I made a big dish of our favorite “salsa” with cilantro the other day–(it’s so good–a combination of mango, strawberries, jalapeno pepper, avocado, red onion, cilantro all chopped up small, a drizzle of honey, and a squeeze of lime over it all…) Everyone always loves it with pita chips etc. I dip rice crackers into it.
I’d be sad to lose that cilantro! Hope your solution moving things saves your beautiful hibiscus! We get rabbits that attack our flowers, too. Makes me nuts!
your salsa sounds delicious! i will put this into our summer rotation. the honey drizzled over the top sounds refreshing. as well as the addition of mango and strawberries. i’m growing tomatoes and jalapenos and cilantro just so i have my own little salsa garden. love pico de gallo! i got hooked years ago during our texas days.

Oh wow you look amazing in that set ! The printed trousers and the yellow cardigan are fabulous.
i don’t know why, but i love paisley! always have. it might be due to the fact my room was wallpapered in pink and green paisley as a teenager – i loved that room!

Love you big Jackie O glasses, the print pants and your hair flip. Sorry about the deer. I wonder if you put a salt lick out, if they would get distracted from your foliage and herbs? But sounds nice just sitting out on your porch observing❤️
hi linda! there’s something about watching nature in motion that’s fascinating to me. and we are lucky enough to have a front and back porch. as for those deers, they are plentiful in our neighborhood but i’ve had several suggestions as to protecting our plants from their avaricious appetite.
