wheels up as i’m on my way to #nyfw. but i couldn’t help but pause for a moment and reflect on the 15th anniversary of 9/11. i’m certain each one of us remembers where we were the moment we heard the news. much like president kennedy’s assassination or princess diana’s untimely death. and so it goes when tragedy strikes and life as we know it is changed forever more. shock, disbelief, and pain turned to grim determination and heroism. there’s never an easy explanation as to why evil exists in this world and its devastating repercussions because it does. but the only way to overcome darkness is with light. and my hat is off to nyc and its millions of residents who picked their lives up from the rubble placed one foot in front of the other and doggedly reclaimed their lives, and city. new york fashion week is but one benefactor of the city’s steadfast valor. since this will be my first time in attendance i have no idea what to expect. but i love nyc and i get to visit one of my kiddos so that’s a good day right there. my flight leaves bright and early sunday morning, 7:45 am to be exact so casual attire is a must. tennis shoes, t-shirt dress, and jacket should keep me warm and stylish not only during my flight, but once i hit the streets of new york. if you’re interested in ‘behind the scenes’ action join me over on snapchat. you can find me at styleatacertain.

I remember where I was and can’t beleive 15 years has passed. Our lives have certainly changed since then, and I feel so sad on this day, thinking of such a tragic event and loss.
Enjoy your time there for FW, I went last year, and my mom is there this year, my brother lives in Jersey City. Love this comforable yet, very put together look with the gorgeous moto jacket and the scarf is perfect for mixing patterns! I have begun a collection of moto jackets as in Charlotte, you dont need much more!
Stop by the blog if you get a chance.
Enjoy the week,

The hat is very becoming on you, and the jacket is awesome! Another great look!
i do like a hat or two sitting on my shelf. they come in handy on saturday morning when you don’t feel like doing your hair or makeup. then if you happen to have a hankering for pancakes you’ll be ready to dash out the door.

You look adorable. I love hats. I even bought me 2 new ones to wear on our beach weekend. I found a really cute ballcap made specifically for women and a straw sunhat for shading my face. I forgot to take them with me! I was so disappointed. So we stopped at a Dollar General (you can find one every 2-3 miles in Alabama) and we both bought ballcaps.
I love casual tshirt dresses!

what? you forgot your hat? but isn’t it great when you can find an inexpensive replacement. oh the joys of the good old U.S.A.
hope you had a terrific weekend.
