it’s monday, and i’m wearing blue but how can i sing those monday blues when i’m wearing a green overcoat with a polka dot lining? my mother always claimed that the inside of a garment was just as important as the outside. this green wool coat from Talbots has both in spades. it has a removable faux fur collar and faux horn buttons. it is so darn cute it was featured in Instyle magazine, so i imagine it will fly off the hanger in no time.
as you can see today’s ootd is easy-peasy to put together in no time flat thanks to a monochromatic color scheme in navy blue. italian weave ankle pants and cashmere turtleneck from Everlane get a pop of color from the green overcoat. leopard pumps similar here add just the pizazz this outfit needs when flying solo. a blue suede and leather handbag polish off this outfit that’s ready to take me to the office in style.
happy monday, ladies! can you believe we’re in the final stretch for thanksgiving? my ingredient list is long. fingers crossed i only make three trips to the grocery store before the big day! one can hope, right?

I love when it’s great fun and also versatile. Love that the collar is removable. Very nice look.
it’s a nice feature to have the faux fur collar removable. it give the coat versatility which is is always a good thing! xo
This look is gorgeous! I had a mom who said the exact same thing as yours: I used to sew all my own clothes, and I was pretty good, but my mother, who was essentially a couturier-level seamstress, would immediately look underneath my creation to see if I’d done french seams, or bound buttonholes, or piping around lining seams, etc. Drove me crazy at the time, but she did teach me to look for quality and long-lasting things. That polka dot lining is fun–I’d want it to show all the time.
I head out in a few to pick up my son, who’s arriving from Boston today. Can’t wait. Thanksgiving week has begun! Where has this year gone?
we are two peas in a pod, sue! xo
Love the color and the coat 🙂
isn’t this a sharp color combination? love navy and green. xo

navy and green are a favorite color combo from way back when! glad to hear you like it too. xo
Beth, You’ll be the best-dressed gal at the market. NAVY is definitely your neutral. So much less harsh than black. I’ve been replacing my black with navy, but it is a slow process. It is our go-to color of choice, alas. Happy Thanksgiving.
hi sharon! it’s always a good day when i hear from you. navy is such a flattering color for all skin tones. definitely a must-have. happy holidays my friend! xo
