when monday blues are this darn cute, i don’t mind singing them. especially if it’s tax day to boot! but i’m kicking off the week in style and comfort thanks in large part to this adorable polka dot top and gingham jean jacket. and i couldn’t resist having one more photo snapped in front of this glorious pom pom tree. spring is such a brilliant time of year. you have to squeeze every second out of it. a smile on your face is a given due to mother nature sharing her bounty. no matter how fleeting.
as you can see, today’s ootd is anchored in the blues. but cue a happy dance thanks to crisp white girlfriend chinos from Talbots that fit like a dream. i’m wearing a size 8. the fit is slim but not tight. perfect for warmer weather. a blue and white embroidered polka dot shell has a side zip and slits on either side. the top has a thin lining which takes the guesswork out of wearing a white top if you like more coverage. the shell comes in small, medium, large and so on. and i’m wearing a size medium. since the weather has been all over the map this weekend, i popped a gingham jean jacket over the top to play it safe. but i couldn’t resist adding a wicker handbag! this is one spring/summer essential i will always have in my closet in one form or another. and i love, love, love this handbag has a bamboo handle.
the classic jean jacket gets a fresh update thanks to gingham. this jacket is lightweight and perfect for those unpredictable spring temps.
don’t be afraid to contrast checks and polka dots. this is a fun, easy way to show off your personality. if you’re new to pattern mixing, keep the outfit grounded in the same color family.

Wore the Ann Taylor striped blazer with blue cording, paired with Boden blouse (blue with white leaf pattern), blue slacks, pearls to a graveside service today. Blue suede flats- we were standing on a hill on uneven ground. Thank you for your blog. I am ordering from your suggestions, using your ideas and really enjoy looking at the clothes.
Thank you, Karen
