can you believe it gang? we are halfway through 2019. i don’t know how it happens but time truly flies. this time next week the fourth of july will have come and gone and i’ll be scratching my head wondering how it came and went so quickly. the whole crew will be in town next week so i’m working on a special holiday post recipes and all. so today, i thought i’d reach into the archives and share a few of your favorite fridays with oscar posts dating back to january 2019 along with our monthly book club picks.
are you ready for some cold weather recipes? winter is all about comfort food so i dished up Instant Pot Spaghetti for mr. style in january. add a baguette, salad and red wine and this meal is in the bag.
every month book club with Style chooses a new story to read and announces their pick. follow along on Facebook to learn more and be part of our community. it’s all about books and a love of a good story. so come and join us!
january book club pick Song of a Captive Bird
stuffed peppers were on the menu in february along with a delicious cocktail by the name of french tart. i have to share it’s loads of fun researching the origins of cocktails and the ingredients needed to concoct them. i’ve been introduced to liqueurs i never knew existed.
oscar catching up on his sleep.
february ’19 | Where the Crawdads Sing
one of my kiddos was in town in march along with a few of his buddies. a sheet pan dinner is a must when feeding a crowd. this greek chicken sheet pan dinner is one of my favorites and was a big hit with our guests.
stork club cocktail. don’t you just love the names they come up with? this was the signature drink for the infamous new york’s stork club frequented by the kennedys and vanderbilts way back in the day.
april found us dining on our screened porch. love this time of year when our dining experience heads outside. i am a big fan of mexican food. this nacho chicken tostado is made with fresh ingredients as is the guacamole and salsa.
this classic daiquiri is also made with fresh ingredients. you’ll notice the difference right away.
april ’19 | Maman’s Homesick Pie
when may rolled into town i wanted to find some outdoor dishes. i found these melamine plates at Ballards Design that are as practical as they are pretty.
each week i look for simple, easy and healthy recipes. since joining FASTer Way to Fat Loss my dinner choices have changed drastically. and for the better. but my love of tacos remains strong. good news. there’s always a way to adapt your favorite recipe. a zucchini boat takes the place of a taco shell or tortilla. and ground turkey replaces ground beef. let me tell you these taco stuffed zucchini boats are delicious! FASTer Way to Fat Loss is all about progress, not perfection. so every once in a while i’ll indulge with a special dessert or a piece of chocolate.
the cocktail du jour is fly me to the moon served in a coupe glass.
in june a friend dropped by for dinner. so it was time to break out the dishes and set the table. flowers are always in order when guests arrive. and i love a beautiful table setting. since shrimp scampi linguine is being served the pasta bowls came out. along with my favorite stemware and flatware. of course, placemats and napkins set the scene. so let’s go with charming italian bistro.
sex on the beach is an oldie but goodie cocktail. i was more than happy to re-introduce it on the blog.

awww, that’s fantastic to hear! i read the first two and was happy to pick up the third. really love the characters.
I really enjoy the Friday recipes. You make such good choices, and I enjoyed everything I’ve made. Egg roll in a Bowl is a favorite since I try to keep carbs down. Thanks for the book selections too!
Also, I’ve been curious about your height since it’s hard to tell in a photo. I’m only 5 feet, so length and proportion are important.
