one tell-tale sign spring is on the horizon is the appearance of gingham. gingham’s relationship to spring/summer is what plaid is to fall/winter. not that you can’t mix and match these patterns year round. but as far as retail is concerned gingham is ushered in commencing spring. and i’m always happy to see it because it’s such a cheerful pattern.
today’s ootd begins with a shirtdress that i converted into a tunic. shirtdresses are so versatile and can be worn several ways. but one of my favorite styling tricks is throwing one over a pair of pants, leggings, or denim. take your pick. if you add a belt – voila – instant tunic. then, all that’s left to do is add a pair of cute shoes – in this case, sandals – and a few baubles. silver is a nice contrast with black so out came a silver cuff, hoops, and necklace. even with gray skies swirling overhead you can’t help but smile when an outfit is this darn cute!

I had to smile–I had just last night seen that gingham dress on the J Jill site and thought “I’d add a belt to that.” Looks great! I like it with the white jeans.
