best in vest

as i mentioned last week, i strolled into banana republic on a whim and walked back out with a few new additions to my wardrobe. this navy vest is one of them.
actually, i had my eye on this particular vest for several months. so i was pleasantly surprised to see it had been marked down. don’t you think it looks fantastic paired with my cropped flares? there’s something cool and classic about a vest and i imagine you will see it reinvented several ways before years’ end.
mr. style stumbled upon this navy straw hat and thought i might like it (he loves hats and is always adding one to his collection). i guess i did as it made the trip back home to athens. it has a wide brim and grosgrain ribbon that polishes it off. and it partners so well with the vest for an urban menswear vibe. you can take the girl out of the city but you can’t take the city out of the girl. plus, hats are another layer of protection against the sun. even if we haven’t seen much of it lately. no, we are water logged here in athens. they might have to send a rescue boat if the rains don’t subside…
these denim ballet flats are just the ticket for a laid-back look. here is a similar pair. i love how they keep this ootd monochromatic
in fact, the only drama comes into play with a navy striped shirt by ralph lauren. although i did bring in a little bling with a wide gold belt. it helps break up the head to toe blue.
the navy and white wicker handbag add texture to this ootd. which is similar to bringing in a pop of color. but in a subtle way.
well, it’s july ladies! let’s kick it off in style this monday morning. and while i’m wearing blues, and it is rainy and monday i’m determined not to get down. so happy monday!

Beth, I just wrote a blog about ‘pulling your look together’ using color in your accessories. LOVED how you just did it with the gold belt, gold hoops, and even gold aviators! Brava.

Love this outfit but especially the hat! You wear a hat very well. I didn’t know Mr Style liked hats…my husband always wears a hat when he is outdoors (for protection from the sun). He gets nice compliments and smiles from the ladies. A ball cap is just not the same thing. Kudos to Mr Style for being stylish! xoxo
