welcome to 2017. can you believe it? another year and another outfit. the raindrops have been falling the past few days which always makes a photo shoot tricky. but mr. style and i braved the cold, wet day as we headed out to brunch and run a few errands. it’s time to store our christmas decorations and make a fresh start. there’s something bittersweet about january as we’re saying goodbye to an entire year, yet, at the same time, all sorts of new possibilities wait for us as we ring in 2017. are you ready?
january is the month i love to curl up with magazines, and books, and a cup of tea. what fun it is to pour over page after page of inspiration and advice. i’ve already earmarked a slow cooker recipe for ham and split pea soup. doesn’t it sound like the perfect comfort food for a dreary day like today? it’s also the month i reorganize my linen closet. and start to take a hard look at my clothes closet. by the end of the month, the spring season will be sprung. and we’ll all be waiting with baited breath to see the newest rendition of florals…
in the meantime, i’ve donned a pair of cropped ankle pants and a striped shirt with subtle bell sleeves. since the temps are a tad chilly i reached for a coat that would add a little pizazz to this all black ensemble. and this red cambridge coat does the trick. pointy-toed flats are my go-to shoes, but i couldn’t resist bringing in a bit of texture with a patent leather tote. all-in-all, i’m ready to tackle the day in style. 2017 here we come.

Love the top…too bad it’s sold out. An excellent outfit to start out the new year! xoxo
happy new year, donna!
the most frustrating part of a style blog is when the item is no longer available. and i just bought this shirt! you might want to check your local Madewell store — i bought mine in atlanta. sometimes online inventory differs from the stores. so there’s still a chance this shirt is available.
