some days the sun shines overhead and there isn’t a hint of a cloud in the sky. on those days it’s easy to head out the door without a second thought about the weather or what to wear. then there are other days when the north wind blows and dark skies swirl overhead. that’s when your entire outfit is planned around inclement weather. well, today happened to be one of those days here in georgia. between thick fog that rolled into town before sunrise and 100% precipitation, it was a major feat not to pull the covers over my head, stay in bed and call it a day.
i finally managed to rise and shine around 7am, scuffing around the house in a pair of shearling lined slippers and bathrobe for as long as i dared. although i hate to admit i skipped my 5:30am workout… but we all know that sooner or later there’s nor more dawdling built into your schedule. that’s when two cups of caffeine help rev your motor and you kick it into gear. but dressing for days like this can be a challenge. who likes to build their ootd around the weather conditions? me either. of course, the first consideration was footwear. more specifically, what pair wouldn’t be ruined by the rain? suede was definitely out, and most of my leather pointy-toed flats. sneakers? nah. boots? possibility. frye boots? practically indestructible — black booties it is. next up, denim. what’s better than your favorite pair on a cold winter day? that’s right – nuthin’ absolutely nuthin’ especially when paired with a cozy cashmere pullover. now all that’s left to do is add a few accessories. scarves are the perfect layering piece for warmth. but they also add some zing if the right pattern is in play like this buffalo check.
there you have it ladies, even an outfit picked for inclement weather can add some pizazz to your day.
happy tuesday.

Great grey-skies look. I love the motorcycle boots–they look comfy! Rain here in NC as well–tomorrow’s supposed to be bluer skies. Stay dry!
i have to tell you, sue, that these boots are one of the most comfortable pair i own! and they’re practically indestructible. we had blue skies for about two seconds. now snow is in the forecast. oh winter, how we love thee.

BETH! I LOVE your stuff- seriously, I am so fashion challenged it is not even amusing. CAN YOU PLEASE DO A TUTORIAL ON BELTS? I mean, that is just one small starting point for someone like me. Do you capsule wardrobe or how do you even shop? How many pairs of shoes should one have and what are the basics? What are the foundational elements of a fashionable wardrobe? How do you know what length is best on your for skirts and where your shirts and sweaters or jackets and dusters fall at the hip, waist or thigh? I am so clueless. (When I grow up I want to look like you…even if you are like only three years older than me now.)
