Fresh-squeezed blood orange and grapefruit juice can be made up to 24 hours ahead and stored in sealed carafes or jars in the refrigerator. Give them a gentle stir before setting out, as fresh juice can separate slightly.

What if some guests want alcohol?

A mocktail bar is easy to make dual-purpose. Set out a bottle of prosecco, vodka, or gin alongside the bar and let guests add a splash if they'd like. The citrus bases work beautifully with all three. Keep it off to the side so the mocktail bar remains the visual centerpiece.

How do I keep the bar looking fresh throughout a longer event?

Keep a small pitcher of extra juice refrigerated and refill carafes as needed. Replace garnishes like fresh herbs and citrus slices if they start to look tired — having a small backup plate in the fridge takes about two minutes to prepare.

Where do I find edible flowers?

Check your local farmers' market first — May is a great time for them. Whole Foods and specialty grocery stores often carry them in the herb section. You can also order them online for delivery. Make sure whatever you buy is specifically labeled as edible.

Can I make the lemon simple syrup in advance?

Yes — and I'd encourage it. It keeps in the refrigerator for up to two weeks in a sealed jar or bottle. Make a batch at the beginning of the month and use it in drinks, on fruit, or stirred into sparkling water all spring long.
