Style at a Certain Age is a lifestyle blog by Beth Djalali dedicated to aging with grace, strength, and beauty.
the merry old month of may has arrived. which means special occasion season is heating up. here in athens, home to the georgia bulldogs, graduation came and went, but that’s just the beginning of celebrations. here are just a few things that might be on your agenda besides a high school or college graduation. is anyone invited to a wedding this summer? well, bridal showers are always penciled in before the big day arrives so you might have one or two to plan for. and let’s not forget mother’s day. typically, after breakfast served in bed, the family heads out to a lovely relaxing brunch where mom doesn’t have to cook (or clean up). then there’s father’s day, or memorial day, or, let’s not even think about the fourth of july yet…
for the sake of simplicity, today’s post zeros in on three special occasions: mother’s day brunch | bridal shower, daytime wedding, and evening wedding. as with any special event, the price point for that extraordinary dress is all over the page. one style tip i will share is to take note of high-end designs then peruse lower-end stores to see if the ‘look’ can be recreated. or, and this is a favorite trick of mine, take a photo of your favorite dress and hire a local dressmaker to re-create the look. there are some very talented seamstresses out there. if in doubt google a local wedding dress seamstress and go from there. and don’t overlook a fab jumpsuit. they work for special occasions.
are you ready for some inspiration? let’s get going.
