Ten years.
It feels surreal to type those wordsโStyle at a Certain Age is officially a decade old. What started as a simple ideaโa space to celebrate aging with grace, confidence, and, of course, a fabulous outfitโhas grown into something far more meaningful than I ever imagined.
When I launched this blog in 2015, I was stepping into a new chapter of life. I was in my 50s, my children were grown, and I was searching for a creative outlet, a new purpose, and a way to connect. What I found was a vibrant, engaged, and incredibly supportive community of women who wanted the same thing: to embrace life fully, fearlessly, and stylishlyโno matter our age.
The Early Days
Back then, there wasnโt much representation for women โof a certain ageโ in the digital space. Fashion felt like a young womanโs game. But I knew betterโstyle doesnโt retire when you turn 40, 50, or even 70. It evolves. And I wanted to show the world exactly what that looked like.
My very first brand collaboration was with Talbots (how fitting, right?), and from there, the blog blossomed. Mr. Style photographed my outfits on the streets of San Francisco. Then we moved to Athens, headed to UGA, and my backyard, wrote posts from my kitchen table, and slowly but surely, Style at a Certain Age found its rhythmโand its audience.
Growth, Grief, and Grit
Over the years, this blog has grown beyond fashion. It’s chronicled lifeโs joys and heartbreaks. When I lost my beloved husband of 35 years, Siamak, in 2019, this space became a lifeline. I kept showing upโsome days in red lipstick, some days in tears behind the scenesโbut always with the belief that vulnerability is a strength.
Through the ups and downs, youโve been here. And for that, Iโm endlessly grateful.
Together, weโve talked about everything from skincare to silver linings, capsule wardrobes to caregiving. And whether youโve been with me from day one or just found your way here, your presence has made this journey unforgettable.
Style, Evolved
Ten years in, my styleโand this blogโhas evolved. Itโs more than just what we wear. Itโs about how we live. How we age. How we keep showing up, learning, laughing, loving, and leading.
And while the algorithm may change, and platforms may come and go, one thing remains constant: my commitment to this community. To creating content that uplifts, inspires, and reflects the beautiful complexity of life after 50.
TBT to 2015 โ Sequins, Denim, and a Very Dapper Pup
One of my earliest blog photos, and still a favorite. Oscar was just a puppyโfull of energy, curiosity, and charm (some things never change). I paired a sequin skirt from LOFT with a classic denim jacket, proving that style is all about contrast: a little sparkle, a little structure, and a whole lot of confidence.
It was a look that captured exactly what Style at a Certain Age was all about from the very beginningโembracing fun, mixing high with low, and never saving the sequins just for special occasions.
Stepping into 2016 with Color, Comfort, and Confidence
This look from 2016 is classic Style at a Certain Age: timeless pieces with a pop of personality. I styled a cozy topper sweater from Talbots with suede ankle boots from Banana Republicโchic, comfortable, and perfect for those in-between seasons. The finishing touch? A vibrant scarf that added just the right dash of color and joy.
Back then, I was still finding my rhythm as a blogger, but pieces like these reminded me that great style doesnโt have to shoutโit just has to feel like you.
Power Dressing, 2017 Style
In 2017, I leaned into elevated classics with a little extra polish. These sleek black pants from Diane von Furstenberg and an ivory Alexander McQueen blouse proved that simplicity can still make a statement. I added a bold red clutch and my signature red lipstick for that extra punch of personality.
It was a look that said: confident, elegant, and unapologetically strongโexactly how I was feeling as Style at a Certain Age continued to grow and evolved.
2018: A Year of Highs and Heartache
In 2018, I had the incredible honor of stepping into the role of Guest Editor at Talbots for five unforgettable weeks. It was a professional milestone Iโll always treasureโstyling looks, sharing stories, and celebrating women who embrace style at every age.
But behind the scenes, life was heavy. My husband, lovingly known to readers as Mr. Style, was in the fight of his life, bravely battling cancer. While I smiled for the camera and showed up for my audience, my heart was often somewhere elseโat his side, holding on to hope.
That season taught me the delicate dance between joy and sorrow. And it reminded me that strength doesnโt always look like armorโsometimes, it looks like putting on lipstick, showing up, and loving fiercely through it all.
4th of July, 2019: The Last Gathering
The 4th of July has always been one of my favorite holidaysโfireworks in the sky, laughter echoing through the house, and family gathered close. In 2019, our celebration looked like so many before it: sparklers in the driveway, good food on the table, and Mr. Style by my side, smiling as he watched his children gather in the summer heat.
What I didnโt know thenโwhat none of us could have fully graspedโwas that it would be the last time our family would be together like that. Just two short weeks later, my beloved husband passed away. And life, as I knew it, was forever changed.
Looking back, that day glows in my memory like the 4th of July fireworks โbrilliant, fleeting, unforgettable. It was a day full of love, laughter, and unspoken goodbyes.
Grief is a strange companion, one that reshapes everything. But on anniversaries like this, I hold tight to the joy of that final gatheringโthe sound of his voice, the warmth of his hand in mine, and the gift of one more day together.
2020: Style in the Time of Uncertainty
The world shifted in 2020. The pandemic brought life to a standstill, routines unraveled, and uncertainty filled the air. Like so many of you, I stayed home, adjusted to a new normal, and in the midst of it all, underwent a knee replacement.
But even in sweats and recovery socks, I believed in the power of getting dressed. So we kept showing up. Day after day, we shared outfits on the blogโnot for perfection, but for connection.
For a sense of normalcy. For the reminder that even in hard times, style can be an act of hope.
It was a year of healingโinside and out. And proof that showing up, however you can, still counts.
2021: Classic Style Meets Cool
In 2021, I leaned into wardrobe staples that packed a little extra punch. This lookโa crisp white shift dress paired with a black moto jacketโwas the perfect blend of timeless and edgy. Clean lines, bold contrast, and a reminder that great style doesnโt have to shout to make a statement.
Itโs one of those effortlessly chic combinations that proves staples donโt have to be safeโthey can have attitude, confidence, and just the right amount of edge.
2022: A New Chapter, A Parisian Adventure
In 2022, Style at a Certain Age welcomed a fresh voice to the teamโmy daughter-in-law, Kelly, joined the blog as our 40s and petite style editor, bringing her unique perspective, polished style, and vibrant energy to the mix.
To celebrate her 45th birthday, we packed our bags and headed to the City of LightโParis! From cafรฉ hopping in Saint-Germain to soaking up inspiration at every corner, we documented the entire trip right here on the blog. It was a week filled with fashion, friendship, and the kind of joie de vivre only Paris can provide.
Sharing that adventureโand watching this platform grow in new directionsโwas a highlight of the year and a beautiful reminder that style is ageless, borderless, and best when shared.
2023: Finding Peace by the Sea
If thereโs one place that always soothes my soul, itโs Tybee Beach. In 2023, I made time to return to my favorite stretch of sandโwhere the waves know my name and the salt air seems to wash everything clean.
Thereโs something undeniably special about Vitamin Seaโthe way the ocean calms, restores, and reminds us to breathe a little deeper. Whether itโs sunrise walks, breezy sundresses, or the sound of seagulls overhead, Tybee is my happy place.
Itโs where I go to reset, reflect, and remember that sometimes the most stylish thing you can doโฆ is simply slow down.
2024: Polished, Playful, and Perfectly Timeless Style
This look from 2024 is the definition of effortless elegance with a modern twist. A crisp white twill blazer layered over a strapless top and tailored shorts from J.McLaughlin created the perfect balance of sophistication and ease.
Itโs the kind of outfit that turns heads without trying too hardโclassic in silhouette, fresh in spirit, and ideal for warm-weather days when you still want to feel put-together. Proof that timeless style doesnโt have to play it safe.
2025: Style with Purpose
While fashion will always have a place in my heart, 2025 marks a deeper focusโone that goes beyond the outfit of the day. Aging with grace, strength, and beauty isnโt just about what we wear; itโs about how we care for ourselves, inside and out.
Iโve come to believe that true style includes wellnessโphysical, emotional, and spiritual. Because if we want to keep showing up for our daughters, granddaughters, and the generations of women watching us, we must prioritize our health and vitality.
This year, Iโm embracing a more holistic approach to agingโone that celebrates confidence, courage, and the kind of beauty that radiates from within. After all, the most powerful accessory a woman can wear is her well-being.
Whatโs Next For Style at a Certain Age
As I look ahead, Iโm excited to lean even deeper into what makes Style at a Certain Age unique: personal storytelling, timeless style, real conversations, and a fearless approach to aging. Iโm working on new projects, refining the brand, and (yes!) preparing to become a grandmother. Life continues to surprise me in the best ways.
To celebrate this milestone, my team selected 10 photos for a Life in Looks video. Check out the looks they chose (a few of them really surprised me!), and hear my stories of each outfit in our video: A Life in Looks.
So hereโs to ten years of showing up. Ten years of outfit photos, heartfelt posts, and a few too many cups of coffee. Hereโs to YOUโfor reading, commenting, sharing, and walking this path with me.
Thank you for believing in this blog, me, and my fantabulous team!
Congrats on 10 years! You inspire me in so many ways. Thank you for your grace, style and spirit. I know Mr. Style is smiling down at you from above. Here is to 10 more years (at least ๐

Thank you for sharing! Iโve been with you most of this decade. You are charming and talented!
It was nice to look back with you. And to remember the highs and lows that life gives us. I think I was with you all the way. Beth, I have gotten some wonderful style ideas from you. I even have that sweater you show in one of the first pictures! I still have it and wear it and I think of you when I do. It just makes me feel good even though Iโve had it for a long time. I even have made some of Kellyโs recipes. The best is her granola, I make it all the time
Iโm looking forward to seeing what you have for us in the future. Keep this going because you do help many.
Thank you so much and congratulations on 10 years.
Congratulations! I enjoy your blog and look forward to reading it everyday. thank you.
Congratulations on 10 years! I really enjoyed this beautiful post!!!
Beth,
Thank you for 10 years of showing all of us of a certain age (Iโm 79!) that style is part clothing, part accessories and double doses of confidence and heart. I had to smile at the 2019 photo. The day I read that post I remember going to our local Talbots and purchasing that lovely cardigan sweater. It became a favorite in my life, as are your posts. Hereโs to many more years of style at a certain ageโฃ๏ธ
Happy 10th Anniversary. I just loved seeing you in all the photos and outfits! Some were misses but that’s life. I have them too. One of my favorites was the red lady jacket. You inspired me to buy that jacket. Red is my favorite color, and I really enjoy wearing mine. Also, the ones with Oscar. So adorable. I shed a few tears when you talked about Mr. Style and your last 4th of July together. I too lost my husband the last part of July (27) 12 years ago and think of him many times with nothing but love and affection. Here is to to another 10 years!
I remember so many of these! Your classic style is enduring
Congratulation, God Bless, and Thank you for your inspiring message of aging with grace, strength, and beauty!
This year will bring you great joy! Granddaughters are a gift from God.
I admire you for your attention to your over 50 crowd. May you always keep your spunk and enthusiasm and joy for life!
Happy 10th anniversary! I turned 40 in 2018 and was thinking about that milestone for quite a while before it happened, so I think it must have been around 2017 that I discovered your blog – you were already in Athens from what I remember, and it was definitely multiple months before the Talbots guest editorship, because I remember you announcing that and I’d already been reading for quite a while by then.
Hard to believe it’s coming up on 6 years since Mr. Style passed. What a dapper man, and even more importantly, how he supported you in this endeavor was #couplegoals, because it always looked to be such a strong sign of his love for you too. Your “why I hate cancer” post is one I’ll never forget, plus your honest, frank and vulnerable posts about grief too.
I show up daily for what I consider to be one of the best blogs out there. So congratulations again, and here’s to at least another 10 years!
What happened to the Message from Mom podcast? I haven’t seen any new episodes in quite a while.
I follow you always. Your fashion advice is classic โฆ love it! You havenโt aged a bit
I canโt believe it has been ten years! Iโve been following you for at least 8 of those and I subscribe to your newsletter. My life has had its ups and downs over that time as well. I enjoy your content and love clothes, colors, and textures/patterns.
Most of my wardrobe is Talbots and looking through your post I realize it is because the clothes are timeless. Your posts from 10 years ago feature clothes that can be styled today and still look fresh and current.
Congrats and wishing you continued success!
Congratulations on ten years of helping style all of us ladies of a certain age! Iโm so glad I found you on Pinterest all those years ago. I appreciate you!
Love your site! I have followed you and your family for many years now always wonderful! Love Talbots and have shopped there for many years! As a petitie, they are the best for me.
Congratulations on 10 years! I found you in 2019 and we were both fairly new widows. You inspired me because I saw that even in grief we can still be here and enjoy things like fashion. Let us know what your grandmother name will be; I too became a Nana after losing my husband. Another “he would love this” but they are such a blessing:)
Leaving a comment for the giveaway here — love Talbot’s! Just shopped there last week.
Congratulations on 10 years! I appreciate the inspiration, guidance and community you’ve provided through Style at a Certain Age. I’m a long-time subscriber to the newsletter. Thanks.
I have been a subscriber for about 6 years–love the classics at Talbot’s, I didn’t need Beth to tell about the store, but I do like seeing her showcase what is new at Talbot’s.
Here is to the next 10 years!
This was a lovely video giving not just an overview of your fashion style but “snippets” about your past lives. I loved hearing about when you lived in Saigon! Priceless.
I was trying to figure out how long I have been a subscriber from your post today. I know it has been at least since 2017, if not longer. You have certainly influenced my fashion style and home decorating. Oh, and watching Oscar grow up! The most heart breaking was losing Mr. Style. Thank you for enhancing my life over the years Beth. Happy 10 year anniversary.
Love Talbots and reading the SAACA newsletter! Both have really helped me!
Seeing the styles from Talbots over the last 10 years that you’re modeling, I’m struck that you could walk out the door today in any of them and look good! Each could be worn today!
Congratulations on 10 years. I’ve just subscribed to the newsletter, and have followed your website for some time. Enjoy it a lot.
You and your blog Beth, are one and the same: a wonderful example to us of style , strength and we do greatly appreciate you sharing both with us.
Thank you for those gifts. Wishing you good health and happiness always and I look forward to more of your blogs!
Congratulations, Beth! What a great post and I love hearing you on the YouTube video and seeing Oscar. Canโt believe how fast the years go and that itโs been almost 6 years since you lost your beloved. What a journey. Thanks for all you do and again I am thrilled youโre going to be a Grandmother. Have you decided what you want to be called yet? Blessings ๐
I have been a longtime subscriber to Style at a Certain Age. I am also a big fan of Talbots as they have a great petite department.
Congratulations on this milestone, dear friend!
Iโve been a fan since 2016, when I saw you wear a pink tweed coat from Talbots. Looking back at the SACA outfit photos, (yes, I have a โBethโ photo folder on my computer for inspiration), Talbots should reissue some of their classics that you featured years ago. They should call it the โBeth Collectionโ as those items are still relevant and in style today. I loved it when retailers made outfits to last more than a season (and didnโt break the bank) or didnโt launch a new collection every 6 weeks. So much has become fast fashion. Keep inspiring, real style is always in style!
Iโm a subscriber. I am a big fan of Talbots (so nice to have a place that still carries petite sizes) and love your blog. Keep up the good work! Congratulations Beth
Thank you for these past 10 years of style for us ladies of a certain age! Iโve really enjoyed reading your posts from your newsletter and getting timely fashion advice. Hereโs to many more years of incredible posts!
Have loved your journey over the past 10 years and enjoy the newsletters.
Talbots clothing is the best.
I’ve been a Talbots shopper for over 40 years. I often say I’m a walking Talbots catalog! Ever since I came across Style at a Certain Age on Pinterest I’ve been a devout fan. Your blog is the first thing I look for in the morning. I get so many ideas and inspirations. I’ve even been known to print out pictures and post them in my closet. I can’t wait for your book. Hint, hint. Congratulations on 10 years of style!
One more thing…I think Talbots should feature you in their catalog!
Yes! Absolutely! Every time I visit Talbots, I mention Beth and how she just styled something. The women working in the store have even written down her name and blog; theyโve never heard of her. How can that be?!
I agree! Beth would be a wonderful addition to the Talbots catalog.
Congratulations on your 10th Anniversary! I’ve followed you from the beginning and love your whole philosophy.
Style at a Certain Age is a daily read for me. I so look forward to what is to come.
Nice post! Congratulations on the 10th anniversary.
I love your retrospective video. What a great idea. Fun memories, looking back at definitely winners and maybe some not so much.

Dear Beth,
What fun to watch this video going back 10 years! Lots of jeans, turtlenecks, blazers, handbags and shoes, always put together tastefully. I love the classic looks from Talbots, my favorite store, and you’re a great inspiration even though I live in a much colder environment! The Paris and San Francisco pictures remind me of the fabulous time I’ve had visiting these cities. Continue your great work and looking forward to seeing you as a grandma. Many wonderful memories ahead! Take care.
Congratulations! You deserve so much praise for all that you do. I truly love, love, love your videos and posts. I have learned a great deal and look forward to learning more, thanks to you and your wonderful team.

Dear Beth,
Congratulations on ten years of Style At A Certain Age! I believe I found you somewhere around year five, and boy, am I glad I did! You have absolutely elevated my mid-60’s sense of style, opened my eyes to the impact of accessories, and encouraged my addiction to shoes and handbags!
Thank you for the hard work you commit to the blog, and sharing your authentic life with your friends.
My best,
Donna Steele
I admire your style, your spirit and your strength. You have wonderful style and a beautiful spirit and heart! Congratulations on 10 years!

I subscribe to your newsletter and posts and love it all! Also love Talbots! Such a quality brand with such beautiful stores!!
Fabulous. I still buying from Talbots after reading your blog all those years ago. I lost my partner with a sudden heart attack 3.5 years ago and you never forget and know that your husband is still in your heart forever. Fabulous job madame hope your business continues to grow and much love from Australia
Congratulations to you. Love following for all those years. Great job!
I have been with you almost from the beginning. I love the way you have evolved and the grace and dignity you have shown in all situations. When Mr. Style passed away, I felt I had lost a family member. I retired six years ago and have followed you every day. You are such a great example of the fact that we donโt have to become invisible or give up just because we have white hair. Thank you and congratulations for ten great years.
Dear Beth,
Iโve been reading and learning here for about 7 years. One of your early videos on classic style history, was so comprehensive I couldnโt imagine you were going to be able to keep it up going forward. But here you are a decade later, still demonstrating how to make dressing a creative and personal expression. Life, loss and love have all unfolded over the years and you have woven that into your work. It has been the most meaningful aspect and we all benefit from your transparency. Masterfully done!!
Congratulations! I have followed you since the beginning. Thank you for your inspiration and authentic sharing of your life-thatโs what truly empowers. Women need to share more and lift each other up-thank you for showing us how many ways each of us can do that. Cheers to many more years!
CONGRATULATIONS BETH!! ๐
I have been rooting for you for years.
Go Girl! You did it.
Wow 10 years!!! Congratulations ๐ฅ I was very happy when I stumbled upon your blog about 6/7 years ago! Was the time I decided to embrace my greys, and you inspired and is still inspiring!
To the next decade ๐ฅ and yes probably the most exciting chapter granny ๐
