Move-In Weekend

After months of planning, editing closets, and trying to decide what should stay in Athens versus Atlanta, move-in weekend has finally arrived.

While Athens will always be home, I’m excited to have a place in Atlanta that feels equal parts home, creative studio, and weekend retreat. It’ll be a place to write, decorate, entertain friends, and, hopefully, create lots of new memories. But above all I will be close to my granddaughter(s)!

A dear friend is coming over on Sunday to help unpack. Afterward we’re celebrating with a farm-to-table dinner at a local venue, which feels like the perfect way to christen the apartment.

I’m thinking this beautiful Embroidered Top paired with the matching Maxi Skirt from Ann Taylor might be just the thing.

I’ll report back next Friday.

Today’s Outfit

Summer dressing doesn’t have to be complicated.

In fact, I think the best outfits are often the simplest.

A beautiful dress, a cropped denim jacket, metallic sandals, and a straw handbag are timeless pieces that work year after year.

Today’s look is exactly that.

The L’Agence Cropped Denim Jacket gives the feminine Ella Blend Midi Dress just enough structure, while Metallic Sandals add a touch of polish without competing with the print. I finished the outfit with a Woven Straw Handbag because nothing says summer quite like natural textures.

It’s an outfit I’d happily wear for brunch, lunch with girlfriends, or dinner on the patio.

Beth’s Outfit Formula

This week’s formula is one I rely on again and again, especially when I’m traveling:

One of the questions I hear most often is, “How do you build a chic outfit without overthinking it?”

My answer almost always starts with elevated basics.

That’s it.

It’s simple, polished, and versatile enough for a travel day, sightseeing, lunch, or errands. Even better, Organic Basics is offering Style at a Certain Age readers 10% off with code BETHDJALALI10.

And yes, I’m already on the waitlist for the linen version of the On the Loose Pant. Because apparently one perfect Ruti pair of pants is never enough.

What I’m Watching

Is anyone else watching Dutton Ranch?

The saga of Beth and Rip continues, and now Annette Bening and Ed Harris have joined the cast.

I’m thoroughly enjoying it, and since they only release one episode each week, I’m forced to practice a little patience.

Rude…but probably good for me.

Beauty Notes

I recently cleaned out my lipstick drawer, and it reminded me that sometimes simplifying really is the best beauty tip.

One lipstick that immediately earned a permanent spot is NARS Dolce Vita. It’s the perfect everyday shade—soft, flattering, and effortless.

I also picked up Victoria Beckham Beauty Pose. The formula is gorgeous, but I’m still deciding if the color is quite right for my fair complexion. Have any of you tried it?

Since it’s the first blush of summer, I also love adding a little healthy glow without spending hours in the sun. This self-tanner has become one of my favorite beauty discoveries. It gives my skin a natural-looking bronze without looking orange—always a win in my book.

And speaking of summer beauty, I’ve also gone back to an old favorite for my manicure: OPI Funny Bunny. It’s a sheer milky white that always looks fresh, clean, and polished. I think it’s one of those timeless shades that works beautifully year-round but feels especially perfect during the summer months.

Brand I’m Loving

Y’all already know I’m a longtime fan of Frank & Eileen.

Whether I’m traveling, running errands, or spending time on Bebe duty, their pieces always strike the perfect balance between comfort and polish.

Their new linen collection immediately caught my eye.

The Ireland Dress—yes, it has pockets—is definitely on my wish list.

But if I’m being completely honest, it’s their denim collection that steals my heart.

Especially the Shelley Denim Tank. It’s one of those effortless pieces I know I’d wear on repeat all summer long.

Still Loving

If you’ve been following along this summer, you know I’ve been wearing red as a neutral. I reach for my Frances Valentine red jeans at least once a week especially with the Fourth of July looming ahead. They pair beautifully with white, chambray, navy, blush pink—even leopard.

Prime Day Ends Tonight

If you’ve been waiting to check out, today is the last day of Amazon Prime Day.

I’ve rounded up all of my favorite finds in one place in my Amazon Prime Day Deals Guide.

Two standouts?

These adorable Velcro sneakers that look far more expensive than they are.

And First Aid Beauty, which has quickly become one of my favorite skincare discoveries this summer. It’s face and body skincare you can shop by skincare concerns.

Home Notes

One of my favorite parts of moving is decorating.

Not all at once—but slowly collecting pieces that make a space feel personal.

When I moved to Athens ten years ago and started with a decorating blank slate, Wayfair was a brand I turned to every other second, so it’s a no-brainer; I’ve been browsing their site quite a bit for items for the apartment. Lately, I’ve had my eye on these beautiful faux plants, this peel-and-stick wallpaper, and these floating shelves which would work in the apartment.

The apartment is definitely a work in progress, but I can’t wait to share the finished spaces with you.

Looking Ahead

Next week I’ll share a peek inside the apartment, let you know how our farm-to-table dinner turned out, and hopefully have a few more Atlanta discoveries to share.

Thank you for joining me for another edition of Weekend Notes.

I hope this becomes our little Friday tradition.

Have a beautiful weekend!

❤️ Beth
