many of you have read my blog tagline that goes like this: trends come and go but true style is ageless. this is an attitude i live by. oh sure, it’s fun to hop on the fashion trend train. it’s important to stay abreast of what’s current and keep our wardrobe looking modern and fresh. and there’s been more than one trend through the years that turned into closet staples. think skinny jeans. but when it comes to pulling an outfit together day after day there are several wardrobe must-have’s i reach for time and again. these items are the building blocks of my closet that never go out of style. that’s right. never. let’s take a look my top five.
striped tee
there are so many colors to choose from these days it’s hard to make a decision. metallic, blue, red and pink never let me down.
crewneck sweater
a simple cashmere crewneck is perfect for winter and will last for years. but don’t forget to add a pattern or two to your collection. sometimes, a girl’s just gotta have fun.
blazer
there’s always one navy and one black blazer hanging in my closet. but an all-time favorite is the mighty tweed that instantly dresses up a pair of jeans or chinos. i also love velvet and a knit, and, well, the list goes on and on for me.
flats
ballet flats have long been a perennial favorite of mine. look for textures like velvet or flannel for extra pizazz. loafers are next on my favorite list. but a sling-back is sexy and gives instant chic to any outfit. it looks as if mules are making a comeback this year. but don’t forget a cap toe is a classic that never goes out of style.
tote
totes are the handbag of choice when i head out on a shopping spree. why? because you can stash your shopping bags inside. brown or black leather is a perfect choice. but for some summer fun, a canvas stripe can’t be beaten.

You look incredible in that all white outfit. That’s it!
hi lady! hope all is well in sunny california. i’m freezing my fanny off at the moment, but it warmed my heart to hear from you.
xoxo
Sunny Cal is finally getting rain. No one is complaining! Love it.
All wonderful examples: “you look mahhhhhvelous.” I guess I’m old enough that by now, I have quite a collection of all these things, and I find myself realizing that some of my things are years old, but they’re still timeless and classic, and with just a minor update, they look fresh and new.
Hope you, Mr Style and Oscar are staying warm–we’re in icy weather up here in NC–western part of the state got snow, but we’re a “wintery mix” here.
well, you only have a few years on me so i reckon we both have more than one blazer by now.
we are freezing our fannies off down here in georgia, but no snow or sleet. who wants to drive in either?! not me, said the little red hen.

Loving your style!

Yep, yep, yep, yep, yep. Is that five yeps? Striped tee and blazers being my most staple staples! Along with skinny jeans. Love these looks, Beth.
sue, we are two birds of a feather! what would we do without striped tee’s and blazers?
i hope you’re staying warm up there.

I’m taking copious notes….
lol! but it’s nice to have have wardrobe staples. it makes getting dressed so much easier in the morning. there’s nothing worse than standing in front of your closet thinking “i’ve nothing to wear.”

i’m a firm believer that getting dressed in the morning should be effortless.

I have a pair of Tieks ballet flats. They are expensive but come in the most stunning colors and patterns. And are comfy.

have you tried stubbs & wooton? they are a classic flat shoe and very comfortable as well.

Oh wow, you certainly make is look so easy đ Great work, so much style and inspiration in one post.
i hope the blog makes it a little easier to pick out an outfit in the morning. there’s nothing worse than standing in front of your closet and thinking there’s nothing to wear…
