are you ready for a whirlwind recap of san francisco? technically, we stayed in cupertino but paid visits to palo alto, saratoga, los gatos, and the last day in SF. the weather was cold, so layers were a necessity. but this post is more about the natural beauty of northern california.
friday night we dined at The Bywater and feasted on fresh oysters and cajun fries. on saturday we mad a mad dash to palo alto for a shopping spree for my son. then onto brunch at Local Union 271. afterward, we ventured to Mountain Winery located in saratoga. this vineyard was one of five that stayed open during prohibition. why? wine is a necessary ingredient for the catholic sacraments. what a brilliant strategy!
Mountain Winery has a gorgeous amphitheater that turns into an outdoor venue for concerts during summer. seventy-five are on deck this season, kicking off with Tom Jones at the end of May.
monday we drove down to the city and spent the day in san francisco. this gorgeous vista is from the vantage point of pacific heights. the dome building in the background is the legion of honor which is an art museum.

neighborhood streets of pacific heights.
quick note, recently i purchased my first pair of madewell jeans. this pair is a high rise skinny jean. i don’t know why it took so long to finally try madewell denim, but i’m happy i did. love these jeans! they fit like a dream and are soooo comfortable. i’m wearing the regular but madewell offers short, tall, and taller. how’s that for options?
san francisco is known for their love of dogs. and what do dogs need? lots of walks. can you believe how many dogs are in this pack? oscar would be in heaven.
we squeezed in lunch at one of our favorite local restaurants Ti Piacera located in Nob Hill. this is what the intersection looks like from Sacramento/Polk street intersection.
on our way to the ocean.
before we headed out of town we zipped over to the beach. can you say windy? and cold? but we snapped a few photos so you could catch a glimpse of the mighty pacific ocean.
it was great fun to pay a visit to our old stomping grounds. for those of you new to the blog mr. style and i lived in san francisco for several years before relocating to georgia. the streets of san francisco were the backdrop to our photos for the first two years of the blog. here’s a peek:
okay, ladies, are you ready for wednesday? i may or may not need an extra hour of sleep. happy hump day!

San Francisco is one of a kind. I used to love to walk up to Grace Cathedral and then quietly do the maze inside. So serene. I’d see all the folks gathered outside doing tai chi and getting their zen on. I never could understand how folks can drive up and down those crazy hills, though. This wuss left my stomach behind many times. And Palo Alto–I could browse those streets forever, and Stanford is such a gorgeous campus. Sounds like a great trip.
we used to live right by Grace Cathedral! and spent many an afternoon at the park right across the street. needless to say we had a ball this weekend traipsing around the Bay.

Great to be able to “tag along” on your trip to San Francisco. Been a long time since I visited. Love the outfit … already added the t-shirt and cardigan to my Nordstrom wish list! I hope the tee shirt fits. I’m a bit thick for J. Crew sizing. 🙁
you will love the tee and cardigan! both are versatile pieces that you’ll wear over and over.

The dome building in your photo is actually is the Palace of Fine Arts in the Marina. The Legion of Honor is in Golden Gate Park. I am a Georgia native that’s been exiled to the SF Bay Area for 20 years. I never tire of visits to the city, she has a vibe all her own and there’s so much to see and do here. I just found you a few weeks ago, you have inspired me to let my gray grow out!
thanks for the correction, sarah! it is indeed the Palace of Fine Arts building. oh boy! but i’m so happy you found the blog. you’ll love not having to zip into the hairdresser for a root touch up. going au natural saves so much time.

Fun visiting SF with you. Because of the broken bone in my foot I can’t travel for a while. So it was fun traveling with you. I can’t believe that guy with 200 dogs. I’ve taken my grandkids to the zoo which is right by the ocean and experienced that freezing cold weather.
get better soon Miss Sandra! i had to add the picture of the dog walker. it was insane watching him walk down the street with that happy pack of dogs. and he did it like it was nothing. some people have trouble maintaining one dog on a leash let alone fifteen or sixteen.

It has been VERY COLD here indeed! Lovely photos of our beautiful city!
it’s always a great day when it’s spent in san francisco.
