Gonna Need a Pair of Pull-On Pants After This

Happy Friday, ladies! Are you ready for the weekend? We’ve pulled together a fun post today as my DIL stopped by to help me in the kitchen. What’s on the menu? Smash burgers are perfect for a Friday night get-together. I’m partnering with Marie’s Dressing on Instagram and I’m putting their Zesty Secret Sauce to the test! I must say, it’s delicious, especially on one of Kelly’s smash burgers!ย  (Trust me, you’re gonna need a pair of pull-on pants after these ones!)

Of course, Oscar stopped by. What canine wouldn’t when ground beef is simmering on the stove? And don’t worry, I shared some of the fixings so he wouldn’t feel left out. There’s no cocktail on the menu this week because this midwest girl likes her burgers with a beer. Stella Artois is my favorite, but Athens has a few microbreweries scattered throughout town, and I’m a big fan of Bibos from Creature Comforts.

Spring cleaning is underway at Casa Djalali, with a few indoor and outdoor projects underway. We think (fingers crossed) we pinpointed the drainage problem that led to my basement flood at the beginning of the year. The landscapers will arrive in two to three weeks to get that project underway.ย  Last fall, I had several pine trees removed from the backyard, so it’s time to place sod on the hill. Indoors, the living room carpet is being replaced with hardwood floors, and I know that will make a huge difference! Can’t wait.

TL;DR

ย  Today, I’m joining with Kelly to bring you a special Fridays with Oscar, featuring smash burgers

ย  I’m featuring a pair of pull-on pants from J.McLaughlin

ย  The pants are modeled, and I pulled in two alternates

Gonna Need a Pair of Pull-On Pants After These Smash Burgers

1. Ivy Pants

(J.McLaughlin)

On Fridays, I always keep my outfits super simple. Since blue is trending big time this year, I’ve added a cerulean blue to my lineup. A crewneck sweater from J.Crew that’s perfect this time of year as it can be worn alone or draped over my shoulders for an extra layer of warmth.

Y’all know I love J.McLaughlin, yes, they’re a bit pricey, but their quality is unsurpassed, and I tend to wear their items over and over and over again. These Ivy Pants are no exception. They have a cropped flared hem with a wide waistband that provides comfort while being on trend. I mean, you just can’t beat a pair of pull-on pants, especially when smash burgers are on the menu. The Ivy Pant comes in five colors and eight patterns.

I loved these pants so much that I had to go back and purchase the navy gingham pants. Guilty as charged! One of my favorite color combos is blue and red, so there is no better time to pull out my red flats (old, similar here, here, and here) from Tory Burch. Every woman should own a pair of red shoes. Just sayin’…

Blue becomes you and make your eyes pop! What a great post today … may need to hit your widget for those Ivy pants. The reference to “Cerulean blue” reminded me of Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada (when she described how fashion colors trickle down). The burgers look smashing (I’ll try them!) and, of course, Oscar … what a sight for sore eyes. My Coco (now waiting at the rainbow bridge) would bark at me for ground beef if it was cooking on the stove. Smart beasts!

    1. I couldn’t resist that famous reference to cerulean blue! One of my favorite movies with so many great fashion quotes. Florals for spring? Earth shattering.

  2. Rhoda Clark

Itโ€™s always uplifting to see your Oscar! And that great shot of the tongue catching the last bits of tasty food! Looks like my kids.
I agree, that blue looks wonderful on you. I too swear by a really good pair of pull on pants. I have many in different colors. My waist fluctuates depending on what I have eaten, so they are a must. But like you, they must be not only comfortable, but well made and in a cosmic style.

    1. Rhoda Clark

That was supposed to read: CLASSIC style! Lol sorry.

    2. And I love finding elasticized pants that don’t look like one! Cheers!

  3. Barbara Stevens

We love smash burgers. To make less of a guilty pleasure we often make them as sliders. But then you have to stop at ONE! Hard to do.
Love the colored pants this season. Going to be hard to make the transition from figure flattering black.
Saw a great demonstration on Stitch to Fit show of the difference darts and belts make to make fit more flattering. I’ve been avoiding belts since I misplaced my waistline. The demo really highlighted what a mistake that can be.
Have a wonderful week and enjoy the changes you’re undergoing.

BTW armed with that knowledge of garment construction, I can now shop with an eye toward the most flattering placement of both for me.

    2. Sliders are always a good idea! And that’s for sharing Stitch to Fit demo. I have to check it out!

  4. Love these pants. MIght have to invest in a pair but what color? Hmmm What blue is in the picture with you and Oscar? Is it the marine blue or gingham blue? Hard to tell from the picture? Love the sweater in that blue also. Hi Oscar and Kelly. Smash burgers sound good.

    1. This is marine blue. It looks a bit lighter on the J. McLaughlin website but a bit darker in real life.
      Hope this helps!

Hi Beth, I have a pair of pants or trousers as we call them very similar to yours, mine are so comfy.
I like a beer too either Stella or Peroni, I think Peroni has the edge but only just.
We had a bottle of red as we are having Sirloin steak and salad. Wishing you Oscar and Ollie a lovely weekend xx

    1. That’s my favorite meal. Enjoy!

  6. Sylvia Espinoza

Friday Greetings! Hey, Oscar! HEY, Ollie, see you, too! Great post. Timely, too. All due to, as Blog Sister Barbara commented today, “…since I misplaced my waistline…” LOL! Just replaced all zippered pants and added more pull on white cropped, capri, and first time, Bermuda shorts, to my Beth-influenced wardrobe. Must share all are Westbound brand, brand new, and bought at a Goodwill store. Felt like a thief walking out with such a great find! Got over the feeling fast, though. As part of 2023 self-care, going to work on locating that misplaced waistline!

    1. Thanks for sharing your shopping expedition, Syliva, it sounds like you made out like a bandit!
