Happy Thursday, ladies! Who knew I was a coastal grandmother without having grandchildren?! What is a coastal grandmother you ask? Back in April, a TikTok video went viral after a 30-something professed her love of, “Nancy Meyers movies, coastal vibes, recipes and cooking, Ina Garten and cozy interiors.” These are all the things Style at a Certain Age shares week after week---a love of home and hearth, entertaining family and friends, and a casual chic vibe that's now known as the coastal grandmother.
I couldn’t resist slipping into summer neutrals today and share my take on this summer trend. Trend? Nope. This is my summer 2022 version of wardrobe essentials that can be mixed and matched all season long.
Today I'm showing you how I'm wearing the coastal grandmother trend
I've put together an outfit with some of the trend's highlights---chunky cardigans, linen pants, totes, and sandals.
I've put together 2 alternative outfits too
Finally, I picked my top 7 favorite items from the coastal grandmother trend
The coastal grandmother trend is in this year. And if you Google it, you'll get tons and tons of articles detailing the look. In short, think Diane Keaton from Something's Gotta Give ---neutrals, chunky sweaters, wide-leg linen pants, sandals, and hats.
That's basically the outfit I put together today. Loving this chunky cardigan from Banana, which I've layered on top of a bodysuit from J.Crew. Add a pair of wide-leg pants and you've basically nailed the look.

I don't think I've featured Christina Lombardi on the blog before. Absolutely adore these sandals as they've got an interesting twist on the strappy sandal. Definitely on my top 10 favorites for Summer 2022.

Beth, coastal grandmother is exactly the way I like to dress. I am blessed to be “ nanny” to three wonderful grandchildren: 2 girls and 1 boy. Sadly, I am about 5 hours away from the nearest beach.
Thanks for sharing the great looks with us. The time and effort and research that you put into this blog is incredible. I learn something new each day.
Suzanne
love your name – nanny! i know it’s exhausting yet exhilarating to be blessed with three grandchildren. enjoy every minute! as if you wouldn’t.
I see that you were back in my hometown, Savannah. I hope you enjoyed your visit on the river. Kessler has built quite an attraction, hasn’t he? Where did you pick up your Savannah tote?
I have a Spartina map totebag that I use all the time, but I like yours, too. BTW, I am an authentic “Coastal Grandmother”! Diane
Savannah keeps getting better and better! I spent the week at our beach home in Tybee and slipped into Savannah for some shopping. The tote is from The Paris Market one of my favorite shops – ever! Love Spartina and love that you’re an authentic “coastal grandmother” can’t get better than that!
I love this look! Casual but so put together and classy. All I have to do is add the chunky sweater to my wardrobe and I have the look. I remember that movie. Like the tank so much better than the turtlenecks she wore in the movie. Have a great weekend.
i’m always a sucker for a good sweater! happy Friday!
Love the wide leg linen pants. I just scored a navy pair that fit perfectly for $15 at Costco of all places. Going back to snag another pair to keep at our vacation home before they sell out!
Love, love, love this look ! Thank you so much for sharing all of your ideas. You two must be very efficient and organized to keep up a blog so frequently for us.
I also really like your hair at this length. Your face skincare and make up is really working for you. Do you have a post(s) on skincare and or makeup? If so, I must have missed them.
Where in Savannah did you get your canvas tote? I have the Marc Jacobs, but love Savannah and am going in a few weeks. Thank you
