monday blues can be appealing. especially when it involves clothes. and there’s nothing better than wearing separates. skirts, tees, shorts, pants. all those items you can mix and match to your heart’s content. but when we reach for separates, sometimes, we hem and haw as to what color combinations work. of course, we have black and white down pat. and monochromatic color schemes. but if you’re scratching your head for color inspiration accessories can step in to help. take a look at my handbag, the inspiration for today’s ootd. pale pink, orange, navy, and gold are all represented on this mini-bag from Tory Burch (old, similar here, here, and here). each of those colors can be found in my outfit. all, except pale pink. see how easy it is to find color inspiration and put it to use?
since i’m a big believer of having the basics on hand. those wardrobe workhorses you depend on to transition from outfit to outfit with ease. and span the seasons. i relied on this blue tee from Michael Stars (old, similar here, here, and here) to pull this outfit together. read more about my ‘back to basics’ series here. an adorable orange skirt from J.Crew is next. this skirt runs true to size. i’m wearing a size 8, and it fits to a T. the gold buttons, and A-line shape are what drew me to this skirt. this pleated front sailor skirt comes in orange, blue and ivory.

accessories always add visual interest. since gold is featured in the handbag and skirt i chose gold earrings (similar here), gold necklace (similar here, here, and here), and a tortoise bracelet (similar here, here, and here) with gold links.
it’s officially sandal season so keep those tootsies looking polished with a pedicure. gold metallic sandals are the perfect choice for this outfit as it reinforces the gold seen in the skirt, handbag, and jewelry.
style tip: metallics act as a neutral. whenever you’re in doubt as to what shoes to wear metallics will come to your rescue.
many times readers will ask for a foot-friendly shoe recommendation. while i am not a podiatrist and would never pretend to diagnose what’s ailing your feet. i do know that block heels give extra support and are quite comfortable to wear. wedges are also easy on your feet and a great substitute for heels.

Is that tee shirt tucked in? How did you do it = tuck, then blouse???? All the way around?? Thanks!
the tee has a wide band at the bottom so it was easy to push it up to my waist and let it billow. xo
Hi beth ,started following you recently .still in south africa going back to florida in july .lookin forward to your summer wardrobe.love the skirt
Great outfit! The handbag is fab!
i thought so too! xo
OMG! You look absolutely stunning Beth! I am in love with this skirt. Orange and navy is one of my favorite color combinations, although I have discovered it by accident last year. Orange is such a happy color, don’t you think? Anyway, have a great day and good start to the week. Renata xo
hi renata! it’s always a good day when i hear from you. xo
Glad you mentioned the color of your shoes. They are coming off as more silver than gold in the picture. Great outfit.
thanks so much for stopping by, jan! xo
I never wear heels so I’m wondering what you think about a pointy toe flat? Being from Auburn, this color combo isn’t new to me but this outfit sure makes it seem so much more “grown up.”
i love and wear pointy-toed flats all the time! great choice. xo
Hi Beth, just got around to reading your post as recovering from our journey back to England from Florida. Wow, you look stunning, those colours are fabulous together, and I love the bag. I bought some of those style shoes in black a while ago, it’s not a style I’ve worn before but after seeing you in that style a few times I thought that I would give it a go, and I was surprised how comfortable they are. I agree with Jan, a great outfit.
glad you’re back in england safe and sound! xo
You look great Beth. It is a classic look that I love. Unfortunately, my legs are not the most attractive part of my body, use to be great. Any hints for hiding all those red and brown spots
Absolutely love the outfit and color combo. Fabulous jewelry and that purse! Fantastic!
orange and navy is a very upbeat color combo. perfect for warm weather. xo
Loving the neckline on your tee, your shades and your medium thick charm necklace.! Thank you 🙏🏼
a bateau neckline is so flattering! one of my favorites. xo
This outfit exudes class Beth ! You look spectacular. The handbag seals the deal.
