fridays with oscar is short and sweet today. the holidays have arrived, and i know everyone is gearing up for the big feast next week. do i have any easy peasy cocktail and appetizer on deck today? it’s perfect for the holidays and can be thrown together in minutes. what’s better on a cold wintry evening than a dirty gin martini and shrimp cocktail?
fridays are always about casual ease, so i’ve thrown together a casual chic outfit that’s sure to please. and it’s the perfect outfit all through the holidays when you want an elevated look that’s comfortable.
it’s no secret i’m a big fan of joggers. green joggers for summer. black any time of year. this pair from Ralph Lauren (old, similar here and here) is silk for an elevated look. but i also have black leather joggers on hand and love to wear them all winter long. what’s better than a classic color combo of black and white? that’s right! it’s an easy choice that never fails to look elegant and chic. a fringe cardigan sweater from J.Crew (sold out, similar here, here, and here) and crewneck look fantastic with the black joggers. add a pair of cap-toe ballet flats (limited sizes, similar here), and this ootd is in the books.
a dirty gin martini is a classic cocktail. a simple gold necklace is a classic jewelry essential. the classics come in all shapes, forms, and varieties that stand the test of time.

In a cocktail shaker filled with ice pour the gin, vermouth, and olive brine. Stir or shake for 30 seconds.
Strain into a chilled martini glass.
Garnish with olives.
shrimp cocktail is the perfect appetizer with a dirty gin martini. individual servings are easy to make ahead of your guests’ arrival. simple add cocktail sauce to a glass, then garnish with cold cooked shrimp.
pax stopped by for a little friday fun. photos? what photos? today, oscar could care less about his weekly gig.

Happy Holidays.
Another cute outfit! You always look great and I love that it is comfy!
I have never noticed your carpet before, but boy would I love to know what that is. I am forever cleaning spots off mine, it is so all one light color!
Thanks, Jan
I love this outfit— the joggers, cardigan, and crew neck. It is casual, yet classy. Beth, your hair looks great at this length. It is very flattering. Happy Thanksgiving to you and blessings to your family. I live in Iowa, and we are staying home and celebrating with just the two of us and no traveling by any of our family. Our covid19 cases and hospitalizations are spiking here. We may deliver a plate of food to our son’s house nearby, though. Stay safe. Hopefully, we can celebrate with extended family next year.
I just discovered joggers this year.
Every brand has one. Mine are from Eileen Fisher, soft all cotton interlock.
All in response no doubt to the need for cozy…. mostly at home…but also for errands….and comfortable clothes.
Love mine ❤️
