Key Takeaways
Yes — you can build a complete, flattering full-face makeup routine for mature skin for under $100. This drugstore lineup totals about $90 before tax for all 12 products. It leans toward hydrating, serum-style, and creamy formulas that enhance and blur skin over 40 rather than masking it. Standout picks: COVERGIRL Simply Ageless foundation ($13), NYX Bare With Me serum concealer ($11), and the cult-favorite Essence Lash Princess mascara ($5).

I’m going to start this post by saying I shocked myself that I could pull together this gorgeous drugstore makeup look for under $100!! If you’ve ever stood in the makeup aisle wondering whether a flattering full face for mature skin has to cost a fortune, I have good news: it absolutely does NOT.
Today I’m sharing the affordable beauty products that create a polished, fresh-faced look women over 40+ love—with the entire 12-product routine coming in at under $100 (minus brushes – but you can check out this older brush post here for recommendations).
To put that into perspective, on a recent trip to Ulta I spotted the Chanel Les Beiges Water-Fresh Complexion Touch foundation—very similar to the Covergirl option I’ll share below—for $70, and the iconic Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in “Pillow Talk” for $37, that I’m always sharing a dupe for below. That’s $107 before tax for just two products. Meanwhile, the full face of 12 products featured in this post costs less than that.

Beauty isn’t a competition of price tags—there’s nothing wrong with splurging on prestige makeup you love, but today’s drugstore products can deliver equally beautiful results for women on a budget.
Why Drugstore Makeup Over 50 Works So Well for Mature Skin
As most of us with mature skin know, the biggest priorities when choosing makeup are hydration, lightweight texture, and natural radiance. That’s why serum-style foundations, creamy formulas, and products that enhance + blur, rather than mask have become favorites among beauty experts and women over 40+ alike.

The Under-$100 Full Face
(1) Foundation: COVERGIRL Simply Ageless Skin Perfector Essence, $13. (I’m wearing shade “medium 40” in this post)
This is the glow-giving foundation mature skin dreams about. It’s skincare meets makeup hybrid of pigmented capsules that burst once blended into the skin, adds hydration, and never EVER looks cakey. You will not believe how beautiful this fresh skin tint looks on. Be sure to use a buffing foundation brush though like this one from elf, $8, to apply with – do not use your fingers. Or you could spend $70 on the Dior version if you prefer.
(2) Concealer: NYX Bare With Me Concealer Serum, $11 (I’m wearing shade “Vanilla” here )
Probably THE BEST drugstore concealer I’ve bought in a while now. It brightens under-eyes easily and beautifully without emphasizing creases, thanks to skin-loving ingredients like Cica and green tea, and its hydrating serum formula.
(3) Setting Powder: Wet n Wild Photofocus loose powder, translucent, $6
Might sound ridiculous to compare it to the iconic Laura Mercier loose setting powder, but I’m going to go there. And this translucent powder does just what it should: blur and set like a boss. Hard to believe you can get all this powder for only 6 bucks. Sure, the container feels cheap and plastic, but who cares? It PERFORMS.
(4) Brows: e.l.f. Cosmetics Ultra Precise Brow Pencil, $6 (I’m wearing shade “neutral brown”)
Tiny strokes = natural-looking brow hairs. No harsh “Instagram brow” situation here and the neutral brown color is quite universal for most brows if you struggle with finding the right shade. I love this pencil and it makes filling in sparse brows quite easy.

(5) Eyeshadow: L.A. Girl Pro shadow palette Neutrals, $14
I am blown away by the pigments in this palette and how rich they are! Even the shimmers act expensive rather than cheap and chunky. These warm browns, terracottas, and gold shades are perfect for soft everyday definition or a glam smokey eye! (what I chose to create here)
(6) Eyeliner: Revlon ColorStay Multi-Liner in “catalyst” $8.
Gives creamy definition without tugging on delicate eyelids and comes with a very handy eyeliner/lip brush at the end that actually works to blend the color smoothly! Anything Colorstay by Revlon I like for its longevity.
(7) Mascara: Essence Lash Princess Sculpted Volume Mascara, $5
This little purple tube is legendary for making lashes look fuller and lifted for under $5. It’s wild, but these cheap mascaras rival other pricey brands! My personal fave formulas are the purple and green tubes. Definitely worth a try if you haven’t already.
(8, 9) Blush + Bronzer : COVERGIRL Trublend Skin Enhancer Baked Blushes and Baked Bronzers, $10 each. (Wearing shades “strawberry drizzle” and “honey bun” in this post)
The subtle glow in these blushes and bronzers instantly wakes up mature skin and gives that healthy, expensive-looking finish. Think the outcome worthy of the $45+ Hourglass ambient lighting blushesand $57+ Hourglass bronzers, but for WAY less! I am very into this “strawberry drizzle” shade that looks shocking and bold in the palette, but when applied in sheer layers, it brings such joy and life to the complexion!

You’ll be amazed at how they each contain two shades swirled together, which create a multidimensional, luminous finish. They are also infused with Hyaluronic Acid and White Rose Extract for soothed and hydrated skin that looks blurred!

(10, 11) Lip Liner + Lipstick : e.l.f. cosmetics creamy glide on linerin “Baddest Beige,” $3 and Milani Color Fetish Lipstick in “Secret”, $9.
First, let’s discuss the $2 lip liner in shade Baddest Beige, which is a very close dupe to the wildly popular “wherever walnut” liner from Make Up For Ever, $27.

And it pairs perfectly with the luxurious and soft matte feel of this Milani lipcolor. It’s oh so flattering and mimics the Charlotte Tilbury matte revolution “Pillow Talk” lipstick in color and finish, just without the fancy gold tube! Makes for a very classy nude lip combo.

Drugstore Makeup Over 50: Your Questions Answered
Can you really build a full makeup routine for under $100?
Yes. Every product in this post — foundation, concealer, setting powder, brows, eyeshadow, liner, mascara, blush, bronzer, lip liner, and lipstick — totals roughly $90 before tax. The only extra you’ll want is a buffing brush, and you can mix in a setting spray and still stay under budget.
What is the best drugstore foundation for mature skin over 50?
For a hydrating, radiant finish that won’t settle into lines, a serum-style formula like COVERGIRL Simply Ageless Skin Perfector Essence ($13) is hard to beat. Apply it with a buffing brush rather than your fingers for the smoothest, most natural result.
What’s the best drugstore concealer for mature skin?
A hydrating serum concealer like NYX Bare With Me ($11) brightens under-eyes without emphasizing creases, thanks to skin-loving ingredients like Cica and green tea. Tap it on gently and blend.
Is drugstore mascara as good as high-end?
Often, yes. The cult-favorite Essence Lash Princess ($5) volumizes and lifts in a way that rivals pricier brands — proof that a beautiful lash doesn’t require a luxury price tag.
How do you keep drugstore foundation from looking cakey over 50?
Choose a hydrating, serum-style formula, prep with good skincare, and apply with a buffing foundation brush in light layers. Set only where you need it with a translucent powder rather than all over.
