are you a blue jean mama like me? if so, you have jacob w. davis in partnership with levi strauss to thank for this invention. the two businessmen came together to patent this revolutionary product way back in 1873. while sales have always been robust for denim since that time, it was the 1950’s teenager that gave this humble pant some traction. blue jeans, nicknamed by the baby boomers in the 1960s, have picked up steam ever since. today, there are so many designs to choose. and the comfort level is incredible due to the addition of spandex. so what’s a girl to do when it comes to buying the ‘perfect’ pair? well, my advice is to take an afternoon and try on a gazillion pairs. when you find the ‘one,’ you’ll know it. but i thought i’d share a few favorites that i reach for time-and-again. if you’re like me, you’ll want to throw in one or more denim jackets.

especially in california! the state that made denim what it is today. is the rain finished for the time being? i think it decided to move on over to our neck of the woods…

I am a jeans fan too! Love every one of these looks, but as a shortie I shy away from boyfriend styles – great on your long legs though! I need to find myself a cropped denim jacket I think now, as these look fabulous.

      hi astrid,
i missed this comment as well! it sounds as if you’ve got your proportions nailed down. whichi s so important to our overall look. but short or tall a denim jacket looks terrific!

I have a shoe question – recently discovered bunions that will need some attention and may limit my shoe options (GOS – Getting Old S***s!!!). Have you researched any good brands that offer some style while allowing for a wide toe bed? I’m looking at Vionic but they are more alignment oriented. With summer come more open options, so that’s good, but wondered if you had any thoughts?
Look to you every day for OOTD inspiration!

    1. beth djalali

      hi maureen!
sorry i missed this question when posted. as for bunions, i know summer sandals might work for you with the wider bands. but i have to say i am not a shoe expert and don’t know which ones would work for you the rest of the year. let me know what you come up with!
      xoxo beth

Thanks for the reply – I’m especially interested in the JJill OOTD (4.12) sandals that you have on and wondering if they’ll be okay in a Medium. Depends on where that toe strap lands, I guess.
Saw you on the Chic Blog and in Chico’s Catalog – way to go!!!

    1. beth djalali

      hi maureen!
thank you! as for the j.jill sandals, i have somewhat of a wide foot due to a high arch and i can wear these sandals comfortably. however, the strap goes right across the widest part of the foot and i don’t know if that would be painful with a bunion.

Thanks! sounds like a trip to the nearest J Jill store is in order!
