good morning, ladies! today we are going to watch how a third layer and simple accessories can elevate and change the look of your outfit. even if it’s hot and humid outside a linen blazer and silk button up are good choices for a day in the city. but if you need to shed a layer or two, this ootd will still keep you at the top of your style game.
let’s start with a pair of 10″ honey brown chinos from J. Crew. there’s a hint of stretch added to these bermuda shorts which means they are comfortable. next, i added a silk button up. linen or cotton shirts would work perfectly fine so keep your options open. for my third layer, i chose a navy blue J.Crew tipped linen schoolboy blazer similar here. and for a little pizazz, i added a straw hat similar here. canvas sandals similar here and canvas handbag similar here scream summer, but they add a casual chic tone that keeps the outfit from looking too stuffy.
notice in the next photos how the outfit transitions from polished…
shorts | button up | similar blazer | similar sandals | similar handbag | similar hat | belt | necklace
to casual.
style tip: a third layer adds spit and polish to your outfit.
but don’t forget the power of accessories.

I really like to blazer look with shorts. Bought a high end spring “prep school” navy blazer for $5 at goodwill with taupe piping. Gotta break it out!!
Very chic. I love the animal print belt, it adds a bit of playfulness to the outfit.
My son lived in Bermuda for some years, and this look would definitely have passed inspection for “smart casual.” Love those shorts!
