As our minds and hearts turn to autumn’s beauty, we cannot help but think of how we will celebrate its main Holiday…Thanksgiving 2023!! Tradition is undoubtedly part of it…maybe in the menu…maybe the location of celebration. Our homes and tables take center stage, too!! We need not have a Norman Rockwell dinner to celebrate traditionally! So today I have Autumn Table Inspiration.

As you all know, for me, creating beautiful table settings is one of my life’s great pleasures.
I know, I am alone!
Today, there are sooo many beautiful opportunities to enjoy color, art, design…on our tables!!

Often, we unpack family heirlooms for their rare holiday appearance. Are you missing a piece or two – or more of a beloved dinnerware pattern? Are you wishing for the charm or design that is in your mind’s eye?? It might be lovely to search, find and collect for this very special season.
We are blessed with many ways to cure our passions in this age of technology…some without leaving our homes. Try replacements.com for the “fill in discontinued pieces” or search new sets or dessert plates with your personal shopper. These new additions can create an entirely new look, modern yet traditional. Combine them with simple classic pieces.
If you always wished you has invested in formal dinnerware, this could be your year!
Whether you find old or antiques pieces or sets on onekingslane, the RealReal, ebay, or new ones from specialty or department stores, have fun!! Put your personal signature and style on your table to share with those you love. It doesn’t have to be all or nothing!
Now is the time to decide…what will make your heart sing and be memorable?
This particular season is also the perfect time to remember those no longer with us…an Aunt, Mother, Grandmother, friend or love. Using items that have been gifted is charming. Bring them to the table! Little vases for each place setting, a major centerpiece – vase, urn, single or pair…maybe linens?
Maybe you collect crystal, colored glass, textiles, flatware, salt and peppers…whatever your passions…share them!! Use them!!
Use seasonal colors and themes
Maybe a special color is your table inspiration! Purple, Orange or Gold to accent? Maybe it is a theme: feathers, leaves, shells, speres, globes, animals – a bear, or squirrel perhaps, …who knows!! Enjoy and share!! Be thrilled to pull out objects that you love! This could be your time to create an ongoing, new tradition!!
My own dear Mother enjoyed watching the squirrels outside our kitchen table…maybe I should incorporate 1 or 2, as an ode to Mommy!! Fun and oh, sooo memorable!!
Inspire your guests…and family!
Truly, we can enjoy dining everyday as well…not only on holidays!! When you invest…think of how many times, and happy occasions you deserve these special joys…even with take-out food on a fabulous, quality plate!! Every day!!
Dessert – salad plates are lovely with simple dinner plates to change the table décor! The same is true of the bread and butter (or appetizer plate). It is also fun to set “every other setting.” Each place setting does not have to be the same!! You can enjoy, creating a wardrobe for your table!
Dinnerware today is able to be used and enjoyed without handwashing for hours. Technology has perfected the way metallics can sustain dishwasher heat!! Unfortunately, for many prior generations, this was not the case and thus, the reason these gorgeous beauties made rare appearances and got a bad name for many young brides. This is a new day!! Every dinnerware company now, has beautiful offerings that can be enjoyed without endless hours of cleanup! Many do not realize this!
Antiques and many collectibles are beyond gorgeous!! They deserve to be loved and enjoyed…
Simply, be sure before you clean…. or decide what will grace your beautiful table this year and years to come!!
